VG woman pleads guilty to several counts of theft

High Court

A Virgin Gorda resident who appeared before the High Court on four counts of theft and four counts of false accounting has been remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Threacha Berry was remanded after she pleaded guilty to the offences when she appeared before Justice Nicola Byer yesterday, April 24.

She was initially charged with 35 counts of theft, but the charges have since been amended.

The charges are in relation to events that happened between 2009 and 2012 while Berry was employed as a cashier with the Water and Sewerage Department.

Details of the case were not read aloud during her court appearance yesterday, but BVI News understands that Berry reportedly stole more than $12,000 from the Government department.

Berry, who is being represented by attorneys Ruthilia Maximea and Ayodeji Bernard, will be sentenced on May 8.
