VIP fears NDP more than other political parties, says Cline

Longstanding National Democratic Party (NDP) member Bishop John Cline has declared that the governing Virgin Islands Party (VIP) views the NDP as its greatest political threat heading into the next general election.

During a Facebook Live broadcast, Cline sought to dismiss suggestions that internal fractures and the party’s relative silence meant the NDP was weakening. “The NDP is very, very much alive, and is a very strong party,” Cline declared, arguing that the challenges facing the organisation are themselves evidence that it remains politically relevant.

He went further, claiming the VIP is not particularly concerned about emerging political groups.

“They have no fear for PLM… They have no fear for All 13,” Cline said. “That’s not who they see as a challenge. They see the National Democratic Party as a challenge.”

Cline also alleged that some of the pressure and “undermining” facing the NDP was coming from the opposing political camp. However, he insisted the party remains undeterred and intends to field a strong slate of candidates. “We are not moved, we are not deterred,” he said.

Cline pointed to the NDP’s record in government, citing projects such as the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park, Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital, infrastructure works, educational initiatives and other developments as evidence that the party can deliver.

He also launched a blistering attack on the VIP government’s performance, accusing the administration of wasteful spending, poor infrastructure development, economic stagnation and a lack of transparency. According to Cline, the recent acceleration of road and infrastructure works is an attempt to impress voters ahead of an election.

“Don’t be fooled by it,” he warned, arguing that residents endured years of poor roads and unreliable water while the government had access to funding.

VIP should not fear NDP or any other party. Their fear should be their record, for it sucks. They hAve been the worst Adminitration to govern these Virgin Islands ever and they had access to the most money. Their Budgets were $500 million plus yearly, yearly for their were Always SAPs, one or two a year. They took, extracted, pinched off, went with $40 million from our Social Security Fund, so add that to their access to resources. They inhereted a $69 million loan after the storms that NDP left untapped and a whole over $70 millions in reserve funds. They brokered a $100 million loan. So you can do the adding as to the resources they had to build this country. And look around, are we better off? Who gives a shiggidy that they seem to be a cohesive united party? Who gives a rat’s patuidy? They are united in laziness when it comes to building and making this country better. They are united in no audited accounts for 10 years. They are united in that every single one of them are independently rich now and has not done anything else for the tapayers of this country. Our main medical center, the BVIHSA, hospital and clincis, are they better off? Our roads, water supply to homes, proper sewage treatment facilities, the DDM Building, $10 million spent there, the Administration Complex, over $15 million so far spent to fix what was built for probably a million or less, and lots more, left in the dust. No finished product, nothing to say I have achieved. yet they have spent, $500 million by 8 plus, during their Administration. You do the Math. We should be further. We should be better off. We should have our bragging rights.

Well they may not be afraid of the NDP or any other P, but we are afraid of what four more years of spending on travel, fetes and wastage on every thing else but bringing upliftment to the people, all the people will do to us. Can we survive it! Should we vote for continued suffering or new hope, and yes, I said hope because we know not what we might get, but we know what we have gotten from this Administration. And doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is INSANE, INSANITY, SCHUPIDNESS.

So what we are afraid of are the blind, blind followers of this VIP Administration because it seems that everyone on the ship has to go down with it because of three letters that meant something in the past but for now and our future are just V, I and P, meaningless letters.

God is still on the throne.
