VIP hits back at Ellis-Simpson’s claims of unfairness
The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has struck back at claims that its internal electoral processes lacked fairness, and insisted that no complaints were filed following its recent congressional elections.
The statement comes in the wake of concerns raised by Mitsy Ellis-Simpson, a prospective candidate at the party’s congress, who charged, after being unsuccessful in her candidacy, that the selection process for candidates, in her opinion, was unfair.
“The [party] wishes to affirm that its recent congressional meeting, which included the election of its final At-Large candidate, was conducted with the utmost professionalism and in adherence to the party’s constitution,” the VIP said in a statement released yesterday.
The statement added that the party takes its obligations seriously and has always maintained a high standard of integrity and fairness in its processes.
According to the statement, Ellis-Simpson did not register any dissatisfaction with the process after the conclusion of the congressional meeting. “In fact, she congratulated her opponent and did not indicate any concerns to the executive body of the party,” the VIP statement noted.
“We wish Mrs Ellis-Simpson the best of luck in her independent candidacy,“ VIP President Sharia de Castro said. “The VIP remains committed to working towards a brighter future for these Virgin Islands and we are moving forward together.“
The party said it remained committed to promoting good governance, unity, and strength in preparation for the upcoming 2023 general elections and said it was dedicated to conducting all its affairs transparently and in accordance with its constitution.

Let’s address the issues of the country. Party politics affect government politics and the end result is that the people in general suffer. Parties should fix their internal mechanisms and understand that working together is better for the people. Look at NDP and PVIM. I think we need somebody who will hold the major party or parties accountable in the HOA. This young lady might be the right person for that. She has my vote.

Hope they are bringing reparations. What are reparations? Reparatios are the making of ameds to a wrong done.
They, reparations are reparative tools. Tools that repair things that are broken. Things that need to be fixed.
For centuries, the British has destroyed the Black race and the BVI people ability to make economic forward gains and movement, while they have prospered and became wealthy and powerful off of their unpaid labour, putting it mildly.
They then turn around and paid their slave holders reparations, but to this very moment have refused to give the wealth builders, the slaves and their descendants a single shilling or pence.
Therefore, if there are coming, make sure you and them bring the reparations owed or don’t bother to come, period! Stay where you are eat your mushy peas.
