Visitors will not be turned away if they test positive on arrival

Health Minister Carvin Malone

Health Minister Carvin Malone has said the government will make provisions to accommodate tourists who test positive immediately after arriving in the BVI.

Negative COVID-19 test results are required before entry into the BVI. But Minister Malone said visitors will not be turned away if they return a negative test result after their first COVID-19 test in the BVI.

Instead, Minister Malone said these visitors will be required to quarantine for a total of 14 days instead of the regular four days that is now in place.

Recently, the government announced that all tourists will be required to provide proof of travel insurance coverage as of December 1.

The Health Minister said tourists who test positive and don’t wish to quarantine in the BVI for 14 days may utilize their travel insurance coverage to airlift themselves out of the territory.

He also said the travel insurance will help to cover the cost of the additional 10 days in quarantine if they test positive upon arrival in the BVI.

If visitors start experiencing severe COVID-19 symptoms, Minister Malone said they will be transferred to the isolation ward at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital for further treatment.

“This is why we’re constructing additional quarantine space at the old Peebles Hospital. We do not want to use any of the ventilators, any of the rooms. But if we have to, they are being prepared,” Malone explained.

Meanwhile, Minister Malone also confirmed that the 14-day quarantine period will also apply to citizens, permanent residents, Belongers and work permit holders who test positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in the BVI.

There is no insurance policy that will medivac you out the country due to a positive Covid-19 test.

They require you to be hospitalised so this insurance policy needs to cover hotel/quarantine costs within the BVI for positive covid-19 tests.

The only insurance that provides airlift out of the BVI is MASA medical transport solutions. This is a separate medical policy from any of the usual travel insurance for international travelers.

The “ portal “ that the cronies were supposed to provide isn’t working yet ( there’s a surprise). How do belongers and others get back at present?

Visitors should have been handled by themselves as much as possble.

  7. Medjet says:

Medjet is a hospital to hospital transfer. You have to be ADMITTED to a hospital to be eligible to use that benefit.
If you test positive and have no symptoms you will not be allowed to use Medjet. The hospitol will not be admitting non-symptomatic people because there is no room for them.
CALL MEDJET…they can explain it to you (and to Malone)
