Walwyn calls for trade school

Minister of Education Myron Walwyn has called for the establishment of a trade school in the British Virgin Islands.

He directed the call at Premier Dr D Orlando Smith during a graduation ceremony yesterday (June 23) at the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies (VISTS).

“I believe in many instances we have more of a skills problem than anything else, and this is why this institution (VISTS) is so important. But it is important to note that this institution is not a trade school, and we do need a trade school, premier.”

“A skills training centre in the territory for life-long learners outside of the formal education system, and we have to do it,” Walwyn further said.
