Wednesday night village entertainment cancelled due to bad weather

Officials have cancelled the live performances that were scheduled for Wednesday night inside the festival village in Road Town.

In a post on social media website, Facebook, the Virgin Islands Festival & Fairs Committee said: “Due to inclement weather, kindly note that the Prime Time Festiville will not be having any live stage entertainment tonight, July 31, 2019.”

Acts such as Triple Kay — a well-known soca and bouyon band out of Dominica — were slated to perform. Other cancelled performances include the Lashing Dogs, Cool Session Brass, Nadia Batson, and Lyrikal.

Tropical wave in the area

According to a weather report from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) this week, the BVI is forecast to experience wet conditions from a tropical wave moving through the region.

“As the [weather] system covers a large area, some of the showers and thunderstorms have the potential to affect the British Virgin Islands,” the DDM said.

“Residents are encouraged to monitor the weather conditions,” the DDM further said in the report that was issued on Sunday.

BVI News will provide more weather updates as they become available.

So they should endanger people near the THOUSANDS OF POUNDS of overhead trussing AND staging, by having them under it while conditions are above it’s wind load rating? It’s called an insurance violation. It’s also called NO ODY WANTS TO WATCH OR PERFORM IN THE RAIN, ANOTHER INSURANCE VIOLATION.

Go back to sleep child, let the grown folks talk. SMH.
