Week dedicated to celebrate emergency nurses locally

The BVI Health Services Authority is dedicating a week to celebrate Emergency Nurses in the territory.

These nurses are said to have shown “expertise in the treatment of patients who present to the Emergency Department”.

Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department at Peebles Hospital Angela Williams said her nurses consistently provide what she described as rapid assessment and treatment to patients in the initial phase of their illness or trauma.

She said her nurses are knowledgeable and competent in treating a wide range of medical, surgical, paediatric, gynaecological, orthopedic, and psychological emergencies.

She also noted a policy within their department to treat the illest or worst-injured patients first and not necessarily the patients who arrive first.

Meanwhile, nurses will be celebrated on from October 21 to 28.

These celebrations are an annual exercise.
