We’ve done a phenomenal job — Rymer

Kye Rymer

Public Works Minister Kye Rymer has credited his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) with doing a phenomenal job over its four-year term in office, particularly in addressing the issues of the Fifth District where he is seeking re-election at the upcoming polls next month.

Rymer, while speaking during his District launch over the weekend in Huntums Ghut, said he was able to bring the district from a sense of hopelessness and a lifeless state to one that is now full of hope and purpose.

“Together we have seen the growth in our district,” Rymer said. “Roads have been rehabilitated [and] we’ve created a business directory.”

In addition to this, Rymer said there have been community cleanups, a food bank that assisted those in need, fitness walkathons, and programmes and services for the most vulnerable in the community.

The Fifth District Representative shared that his community has seen the genesis of a first-step entrepreneur project that promises to provide jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities, particularly for young people in the district.

For elders in the community, Rymer said there have also been the much-talked-about Sankey Sundays in efforts at reviving the territory’s culture.

“We’ve accomplished a lot in the last years and must continue to build on the foundation we’ve laid,” Rymer said. “There is so much more to be done, and I am confident in our ability to continue the transformative work that we have started.”

Rymer also touched on the importance of virtues such as love, togetherness, respect, honesty, and godliness — qualities he said run deep in the fabric that connects his community.

The Fifth District Representative argued that achievements such as good roads, continuous water flow, increased job opportunities, a clean community and other similar benefits pale in comparison to having these virtues.

  9. Roads! says:

Kye, take a good drive around your district – start with your neighborhood where the big new house is always nearing completion, or so it seems. In your immediate neighborhood you will find sections of the road with cones left for almost a month when concrete ran out to fill the spaces. Take a look around, just drive like a regular Joe one day before elections. Better yet, get a driver to drive you so that you can look at the road close to home. While you are being driven go and observe the flow of traffic and tell us if you feel that it is working. The little shuttles are quite “nice” but we need proper dedicated parking to deal with the number of vehicles in this little beautiful country. The whole island needs proper roads. Tell us if/why we need to give you another 4 years. Convince us!

It was shameful how you went on Tola radio with Damion. Trying to drown him out while he was speaking and when Heritage told you he has to go to another guest you insisted and kept talking even while they were asking you to stop. It was a new side of you.

The truth is that people’s eyes are opening that you did nothing for the district and the question has to be asked where is the money?

You were there babbling about money spent on after schools specials when that was just for a short time before covid. The head coach has really trained you well.

  15. @Vigilante Empress says:

What’s kYe’s pre elected office resume on what he’s accomplished? The roads are a mess territory wide! Drainage, sewerage, telecomms, ports…if you can’t get your Cialis from Qwomar try RX online and you can get your anti-depressants there as well.

So why are we acting as if we don’t know what is going on. Let me say it in plain King’s English so that everybody can understand. When all that you do is take Public Funds and grease p**ms, all you have to do is remind those that you HELPED, lol, that you did and mention you “expect their support”. Wow. Is that democracy? Well, that explains why all the money spent we cannot see where. Well, if that is what politics is in the VI, please vote them out and vote in someone else, so a new set of people can get some help. #Uglybusiness #killingdemocracy #anybodycangiveawayfreefunds #unethicalandillegalbullsh**

  18. @Elsa says:

He not only drives. He is always in his District smoozing. Seems like he is a good friendly guy, but that does not a good representative make.

Somebody better tell him that he was in charge of the entire Road System and Water System and Sewage System in the BVI as Minister of Communication and Works. He got a resounding F+ for that.

  19. Another Key Point says:

There is no evidence absolutely of CSC ever gaining from anybody in PVIM. There is, however, facts and evidence galore about VIP giving him free money. That is their favourite thing to do.

And a vote for Kye is a vote for MotherIn***.

If these brilliant young people knows that if they had chosen to simply work and represent when in power they won’t have to lie, cheat and act the fool to retain it? Seems to me you would have less people to pay, less people to blog on, less people to lie about, less jumping. You could get on stage and say I stand on my record.

Instead we have the COI, your leader is locked up in Miami, and everything is falling apart around us. Well we’re leaving this one to God. He will fix this.

A vote for Kye is to have the Head Coach still in his ears telling him what to do because obviously he cant think for himself. A Vote for Kye is for his red mom to keep getting her gravy train. A vote for Kye is to keep him looking good in his suits, because hes GQ Minister and not about getting his sleeves up and finishing the tasks at hand! The VIP MUST GO!! All who were with Head Coach MUST GO! KYE was part of the wasteful spending, and we still have NOTHING of SUBSTANCE TO SHOW for it!

Head Coach had great ideas and courageous.Unlike those he left behind. No wondering they were just followers. One of the Ideas head Coach had that I really like was to make have all Ports fall under one administration one board. I am sure if HC was here that would have being a reality. This New VIP has no ideas, no will, no courage..We need to move on from this new VIP.

  29. Last 4 years = not phenomenal says:

    Are you high?
Between Irma aftermath and Covid this place is BROKEN. I am not blaming the VIP, but to say anyone did a phenomenal job is just delusional.
Look at other Caribbean countries! There are great examples of leadership and investment in things that make the economy and people’s lives better…
We need some humility in leadership. We need someone that can fix problems (and not keep piling on new projects that just become later problems).

Kye Your four years have been disappointing.

You showed us you are a follower -not a leader. You are a coward who doesnt have courage to stand up to wrong.
You chose to keep the peace with the head coach over representing the majority of your people.
the 4 years were NOT phenomenal. The 4 years were PATHETIC.
