We’ve done more and we deserve more — Deputy Premier

Education Minister Dr Natalio Wheatley

Deputy Premier and Education Minister Dr Natalio Wheatley said the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government deserves more time given the accomplishments it has achieved since taking office in 2019.

Dr Wheatley complained that his party met the territory in a very dark place when it entered office but set about rectifying the issues that were encountered instead of ‘cursing the dark’.

“We’ve taken what we’ve been given and we’ve prospered the Virgin Islands in very difficult times,“ the Deputy Premier said at a recent political rally celebrating his party’s third year in office.

According to the Deputy Premier, the VIP government has had more cabinet decisions, more projects and enacted more legislation than was done in the previous eight years which was overseen by the National Democratic Party (NDP) government.

“We spent more time in the House of Assembly, we’ve had more meetings and I say to you, we have done more and we deserve more so we can do more for you the people,“ Dr Wheatley said.

He touted his administration‘s accomplishments in the education sector and said the sector was met in a very difficult place.

Dr Wheatley also said his administration has issued more scholarships and educational grants in its three years in office than were issued in the eight years under the NDP government.

The Education Minister promised that schools in Tortola and Jost Van Dyke that his government set out to build will be completed, despite the negative talk faced by detractors.

“Despite the talk,” Dr Wheatley said, “we will deliver.”

Where is the journalism in the BVI? Someone please ask this man to name one thing of substance that the VIP has done in the last 3 years.

I heard the Moorings are in very serious talk about relocating their entire fleet to St Thomas. That’s a lot of jobs to gamble with VIP.
What forward thinking for the people is that? Dumb a**es.

      • Toon says:

I hope they do. That will show the BVI they have lost their way

        • Your says:

wish to see the BVI and its people fall, suffer and struggle will not come to fruition. So begin changing your mind set and start emracing the country that has been and is still feeding and giving you earnings.

Last, moorings are not the only company on earth.. Be informed also, there are a thousand companies waiting to fill that space if they leave.

This f**l is in charge of the most important thing the government is responsible for , the education of the next generation.

      He has produced a disaster.

    • They says:

have loaded their bank accounts. That was and is their main and only reason for wanting to be elected. One ah dem said so wid he own mind, computer and fingers.

Hoping the voters have learned and matured over the last three years. If not, they will make the same mistake again and again, and their government coffers will be taken to the cleaners.

Meanwhile, are there any that is deserving a second term? Of course, but just one.

He start to smoke the marijuana before they plant up Pari. His statement shows how low their standards are. Mr. Wheatley the performance of your government has been deplorable. Your performance as a minister has been atrocious. What worries me now is that you have no ability to distinguish between good and bad work performance. That is very troubling.

Nataly, You’ve done nothing so you deserve nothing.

You’re the minister of education and all schools are in shambles. You should be ashamed. Sure, you were handed a mess. But you have not made it better one bit.

Despite the talk,” Dr Wheatley said, “we will deliver.”

You WILL? You’re already three years in office, you should have already delivered.

I think they’ll be back in there after the smoke clears. Maybe 1 or 2 other candidates have something to offer but there’s not a team to replace them. They were rookies and now they’ve got seasoned so why should we replace them with rookies again now? Let them cook. For now.

this is becoming a theme – this administration with its cavalcade of consultants, bewigged toadies, empty rhetoric, threadbare policy, is complaining that we are not complimenting their driving skills as we approach the cliff edge.

Dr Wheatley complained that his party met the territory in a very dark place when it entered office but set about rectifying the issues that were encountered instead of ‘cursing the dark’. Wheatley the BVI is in the darkest place I have ever seen it in and with your government its going to get darker.

This government is screwing up the tourist industry manly the charter business which is the biggest part of tourist industry. You guys need to go and find something else to do because you don’t have a clue about running a country.

  19. LB says:

You’ve done more HARM to the BVI that’s what you’ve done! WGE! Worst government ever!

  20. Yet l. Lot more talking.. says:

  22. DARKpeople says:

Read to the part when he said VERY DARK place and couldn’t go any further. Most things that are dark are good for you including the DARK of the night. Why do DARK skin people use the word in such a negative way. PALE is just as effect and more accurate of a description.
