Willock insists he’s not campaigning for D3 seat

Willock

Media owner and former Speaker of the House of Assembly Jullian Willock is insisting that the events and initiatives he’s been spearheading in the Third District, are not part of his campaigning efforts for the next general election.

Willock has been partnering with private sector entities to host back-to-school fairs, job fairs and other events in District 3, which is represented by Julian Fraser.

Amid speculation that he is gearing up to contest the D3 seat in the 2027 election, Morning Braff host Floyd “Heritage” Burnette said Willock must be commended for the work he is doing to build community presence years ahead of the election.

However, Willock insisted that is not what he is doing: “Our work in D3 goes back 10 years and has nothing to do with any election. We have a five to six-year plan for D3 and that’s even beyond the election so we’re not caught up in any election and when that time comes, those decisions will be made and everybody will know at the same time.”

He added that he is simply concerned about making a difference and building on the legacy of Fraser.

“When we say we’re building on the legacy of Hon Julian Fraser, he has done a lot of these things. These are not anything new and we’re just building on what he has started. We’re not obsessed with any election, our obsession is what we can do for people – the love for people, the love for D3. Brother, it’s nothing but love for my people, election and those things will take care of themselves,” Willock maintained.

There are unconfirmed reports that Fraser – a senior legislator – will not be contesting the D3 seat in 2027. The politician is serving in his seventh consecutive term in that seat after first being elected in 1999.

Among the highlights of his career is the credit he has been given for helping to prevent the British government from taking over power in the BVI after the Commission of Inquiry report recommended that move.

When the British threatened a takeover, Fraser suggested that the BVI implement a Government of National Unity that would be responsible for implementing all the recommendations of the COI. That recommendation was accepted by the British government.

  3. A Morally Inept Government says:

Every last one of them continued campaigning after they were elected.

They never stopped. Observe the D9 the VG representative for example.

Every thing he does every day is photo opp and campaigning stunt.

All of them are living high and easy off of us, getting fat and banking lots of money.

While the people are still being denied what they have already worked for.

That whole senario withthe increments is so unfair, wrong and uncaring.

This government from top down is morally corrupt.

They care only about their bellies, waist line and accumulating vast sums of money for themselves.

Why have they not abolish the “Greedy Bill?” Because they went in with the mandate to enrich themselves to the fullest extent at the expenseand scarcity of the people.
