Willock sidesteps campaign rumours over D3 activity

Willock

Former political candidate Julian Willock has denied allegations that political motivations are driving his increased activity in the Third District in recent months.

Appearing on the Talking Points show on Monday, Willock dodged questions about whether he intends to run again for elected office at the next general elections after a failed bid ended during the party selection process previously.

When asked if he intended to run, the former House Speaker said an announcement would come at the appropriate time.

He also sidestepped questions about his newfound altruism in the district and rejected speculation that his actions were motivated solely by a desire to seek political office.

Only a week ago, the incumbent D3 representative Julian Fraser rejected an unidentified competitor that he claimed was acting like a district representative. Fraser said he plans to keep serving even though the challenger has hinted that this could be his (Fraser’s) final term in office.

“There is no fight between Fraser and I,” Willock said as he pledged loyalty to his mentor and namesake. “No. I’m an ally. You need to know that.”

Fraser has held the position since 1999 with a continuous series of victories in elections.

Willock replied in a press statement after Fraser’s claims, refuting the suggestion that he was seeking Fraser’s position and insisting that he was falsely accused for simply doing work in his community.

Willock said he has been building on Fraser’s legacy and continues to show Fraser, his longtime friend, the highest regard and respect. This includes invitations extended to Fraser to job fairs that Willock is holding that had been discontinued by the Third District Representative.

The media keeps giving this guy too much airtime on this “people believe he wants to run, he says hes not running” discussion.
This is exactly what he wants, this back and forth argument about himself that fuels his ego. If you keep empowering him this way, its obvious his next move will be …”well since everyone cant stop talking abt me and D3 and everyone keeps pushing me to run, then………”
