Willy T is here

The William Thornton (Willy T) Floating Bar & Restaurant is in the British Virgin Islands.

Willy T recently cleared with Her Majesty’s Customs at the cruise pier on Tortola after travelling from the United States mainland.

Owner, Ewan Anderson told BVI News in a previous interview that the old Willy T vessel was a ‘total wreck’ following the catastrophic hurricanes last September.

As a consequence, a bigger and more efficient vessel was procured.

The vessel was expected to be back from the United States at an earlier date but the work to get the vessel business-ready proved to be more than anticipated, owners said.

Anderson and his family have been operating the unique business for more than 35 years.

WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE SO IN A HURRY TO SUPPORT A WHITE MAN’S BUSINESS. DO YOU GUYS EVER SAY TO YOURSELVES THAT US AS BLACK PEOPLE COULD DO THE SAME THING AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER? THERE’S ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO EAT…. BUT I FORGOT YOU LOCALS DONT LIKE TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER. SO SAD!!!

    • nick says:

      • HRMPH says:

There are lots of other bays in the BVI where a local can set up a floating restaurant. However, it would require cash and lots of hard work.

    • I FROM HERE says:

    • Curly says:

ahhh racism in the BVI…. the owners of this business have had it for 35 years, they employ local persons, seriously what is wrong with you all. Just a bunch of nasty.

    • Silo thinking says:

Why do people not see the bigger picture. The WillyT is part of a network of supportive business, whether it be the day sail from west end to go snorkelling at the Indians, a stop at WillyT, then lunch at Norman island. Who cares what colour the owners are, they are all supporting each other. I have had the pleasure of 10 such trips (Over 200 people’s dollars)
I have lived all over the Caribbean and it is sad to see the have it all now, straightaway, selfish business model employed. This model is not sustainable and we should all be working together.

We want your money but we are racists that hate you. Well done to the commenters above. This is searchable on the internet you know also so apart from spending your own lives twisted, it will deter tourists

The White Squall and Willy T have been around contributing for decades even before most posters were born.Let’s be grateful that someone saw the need for an enterprise that will offer employment and entertainment with a difference before, during and after full moon.

  12. Gerwyn Flax says:

How disgusting! This, while advertising “Nature’s Little Secrets”. Maybe the above commenters are unaware of the eventual demise of our Financial Services sector, leaving only Tourism as the major industry. An industry that only thrives when tourists feel welcomed and safe. Please don’t bite the only hand left to feed you.

  13. Slick says:

Now they wont let them anchor at Norman. I say bring it to VG north sound

    • Visitor says:

There is so much boat traffic in that area, with all the people jumping, that is a tragedy waiting to happen.
