A woman died after succumbing to injuries she sustained during a traffic accident in Cane Garden Bay last night.

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Joyce Orine George, 57, of Romney Park.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said the fatal incident was a one-vehicle collision.

“Last evening just before 8 pm, police responded to the scene of a collision close to the bottom of the Cane Garden Bay Hill. A vehicle was found with extensive front-end damage against a retaining wall. The driver was found unresponsive. The cause of the collision is still being investigated,” the RVIPF stated.

The woman is said to be an employee of Quito’s Gazebo located in Cane Garden Bay. The restaurant also confirmed her death in a statement on its Facebook page.

“She was a wonderful and beautiful lady. She will be sadly missed by us all. Our heart breaks for her family and from all our family, we send our condolences. We were all blessed to have shared time with her and for all, she shared with us. She was a ray of sunshine every day. May she rest in everlasting peace,” the statement read.

It is not yet clear to BVI News how the collision happened.

  8. Rubber Duck says:

We really need to hold to account those responsible for the disgraceful and dangerous roads. It starts with the Public Works Department and whoever is supposedly in charge of it and goes as far the auditors who need to find out where the money goes and exactly what the machines and men are working on at any given time.

Because it doesn’t look like they are doing much public work.

  9. WHAT U ALL EXPECT ❓ says:

EVERYTHING IS PROGRAM TO DECIEVE THEIR OWN PEOPLE AND DISTRACTION IS ONE OF THEIR TOOL THAT IS USED WIGGLE THEIR WAY OUT OF THEIR HOLLYWOOD SIDE EFFECTS / A WHOLE SET OF SWEET TALKERS / THE WOMEN JUST AS BAD ?

  10. That's bad says:

It starts with Mark Vanterpool, Alvin Christopher, Kye, Jeremy Hodge, Jeffery Skelton, Quality and Autland Construction. All of them need to be held responsible for the dire condition of our roads. I can’t forget Water n Sewerage, Flow, RDA, Fahie, Dr Smith. What a shame. Millions upon Millions has been stolen and given away to their friends to make it look like they’re fixing the roads. 20 years later the roads are worst than Haiti and Africa.
