Yello pages for local businesses returning to BVI

The Yello pages of the BVI’s telephone directory is returning to the territory for the first time in more than two years.

General Manager of Yello (Barbados) Ltd Carlyle Roberts made the announcement at a business engagement meeting at Flow’s headquarters in Road Town Thursday evening.

“It is the right time because a lot of businesses have retooled and they are refreshed. Some are still trying to rebuild but businesses have either moved, changed numbers, changed location, so a lot of them need to get the word out to their customers and we can help them,” Roberts said.

He said Yello believed 2018 was not the best year to have returned considering the hurricane recovery effort that was still in its infant stages in the territory.

“We are responsible for print directory and we also have a sweep of digital online products and we were not able to have a directory online product last year because it was shortly after the impact and effects of the hurricane, so a lot of businesses were not ready or prepared to be able to advertise in the directory at that point in time,” Roberts added.

The General Manager also said Yello has partnered with telecommunication’s giant Flow to ensure various local businesses are reached.

“Flow knows about some customers who may not be in business or may have had to move or change numbers. They also assist but a lot of them we just have to go out there and find and that is what we’ve been doing.”

He further said: “We had sales consultants come into the market and actually physically go and find businesses. There are a number of businesses and every day we go out we are looking for those businesses that advertised with us two years ago. A lot of them are not in the same location, a lot of them don’t have the same number. For a number of them, their telephone has not been restored yet, so we’ve been going through an exercise of finding them where we can.”

Yello currently conducts business in 21 different markets across the Caribbean, and according to Roberts, they have already visited hundreds of businesses here in the BVI and will continue to do so for the next two weeks.

Yello will continue their outreach to various businesses with a free digital seminar on Friday, May 24.

    Unless they will be publishing cellphone numbers from more than just FLOW, I don’t see the sense in this exercise. Fixed line phones been on the decline and the storm just made it worse. No wire lines on JVD and many other locations. Move with the times instead of printing a phone book that’s just a nice mouse pad.

    Yellow Pages for BVI businesses in 2019 – why? All the BVI needs is a website listing BVI business and government e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers.

      Elt** C******d did an online Telephone Directory a few years ago. Maybe he just needs to advertise same. I’m not sure if it was created as an ap but I know he did one.

    WE ALWAYS HAD 3 ADS FOR OVER 25 YEARS UNTIL IRMA, BUT WHAT GOOD IS YELLO IF UP TO TODAY WE DID NOT GET BACK OUR LANDLINES IN OUR OFFICE ON THE BIG ISLAND OF TORTOLA
