Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II said she has been intently watching the situation in the territory as it relates to the hurricane, and will be praying for the Islands as Hurricane Maria approaches.

The message from the Queen was delivered by Governor Augustus Jaspert, in a release to the media today.

“I leave you with a message from Her Majesty the Queen in the United Kingdom. She told me she has been following the situation intently, and everyone in the territory is in her thoughts and prayers,” the Governor says.

Meanwhile, the Governor, in what he described as his final message until after the hurricane, urged everyone to be on high alert and prepare for the hurricane.

He said military officers from the United Kingdom, Cayman Islands and Bermuda have remained in the territory to provide reinforcement to local police officers.

“Together, we will be ready to ensure security is maintained, and the relief effort continues as soon as Hurricane Maria passes,” Governor Jaspert said.
