Young person will be appointed Recovery Agency

Walwyn

Following recent calls to appoint a local youth to the Virgin Islands Recovery Agency, legislators have accepted the request.

Education Minister Myron Walwyn had made the request during his contribution to the Recovery and Development Agency Act in the House of Assembly.

“We’ve got to make sure a young person is on that board because if we building back this country for them (youth) and they are not involved in it, we have a problem,” Walwyn had said.

And after subsequent in-camera discussions among legislators this week, it was agreed to have a youth sit on the Agency.

It was one of the amendments made to the aforementioned legislation.

Opposition Leader Andrew Fahie will be responsible for the selection, Premier Dr D Orlando Smith said this week.
