Another stalwart of the Virgin Islands Party led by Premier Andrew Fahie has landed a top post in the territory.
Former Mrs BVI, Zoe Walcott, is the new Business Development Manager at the C.B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.
She took up that post on September 15.
Speaking to BVI News on Monday, Walcott said she is grateful to serve.
“If the (VIP) party sees an opportunity where my skill sets can be utilized, where ordinarily it has not been given the right impetus to do so, I am appreciative of anybody who recognizes that I can be an asset,” she said.
When asked if her appointment was politically motivated, she replied: “I can’t speak to that.”
I am well rounded
In the meantime, Walcott said she has a lot to offer to the pier park.
“My background has been primarily in financial services, but I also do a lot of contracts with a number of businesses that span from tourism to chicken farms. I own a number of businesses as well. I am quite well rounded,” she said.
A lot of work to do
Walcott also said there are lots to be done at the multimillion-dollar facility that will keep her busy.
“The park has a lot of areas that require further exploration and just in terms of meeting the mandate that the park was initially envisaged. There is quite a lot to be done,” she said.
“We have sort of hit the ground running to create additional opportunities that would allow the park to flourish under a business model. The park needs to make money, and we need to make sure that we are working to ensure that we can be more autonomous,” she further explained before adding, “My job is to look for the money.”
