20 vehicles seriously damaged in mysterious fire at TAG

The damaged vehicles.

Approximately 20 cars at Tortola Auto Group (TAG) were gutted by a mysterious fire that broke out on its lot early Tuesday morning, October 15.

TAG Director Shan Mohamed informed our news centre that the fire may have started around 2:30 am, and is unsure who reported it to the territory’s Fire and Rescue Services.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Mohamed expressed concern about the possibility of foul play. He reassured that the business is not significantly affected, as the vehicles are covered by insurance.

He commended the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Department for their swift and effective response, alongside a few TAG staff members, which helped save a substantial number of cars.

“We expect no setbacks whatsoever because we have more than adequate inventory,” he stated. However, he emphasized the seriousness of the situation: “It’s the fact that you have the possibility of a fire not starting by itself. If that is the case, that is extremely concerning ,” Mohamed stated.

“If it is something like that, it signals a shift in how the business community will act. I really hope it is not the case because it will change the way we have to do things in the BVI as businesspeople,” he further stated. This incident marks the first fire at TAG, and investigations are ongoing. Efforts to contact fire officials for comment has been unsuccessful up to publication time.

Having dealt with a certain individual in the ‘business community’ I trust nothing that they try to present as facts. Read the subliminal and even boastful language people. Buyer be aware of everything concerning your vehicle, insurance and other deals. Please be mindful of the ‘smooth operators’ among us! Some of them are ruthless! A burnt child fears fire – no pun intended!
