The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (BVIOC) unveiled a four-member team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

This announcement was made at a press conference yesterday, July 9, where Adaejah Hodge, Kyron McMaster, Thad Lettsome, and Rikkoi Brathwaite were introduced as the athletes who will carry the territory’s flag on this prestigious international platform.

Hodge will participate in the Women’s 200 Meters, making history as the youngest female athlete from the BVI to compete in the event at the Olympics. Hodge’s entry not only underscores her exceptional talent but also highlights the burgeoning prowess of the islands’ youth in athletics.

Kyron McMaster, known for his impressive achievements in the Men’s 400 Meters, is set to bring his experience and speed to the forefront in Paris. A veteran on the track, McMaster is anticipated to excel, given his track record and dedication to the sport.

In the Men’s 100 Meters, Rikkoi Brathwaite is prepared to showcase his remarkable speed. Brathwaite’s participation is particularly significant as he competes in one of the most highly anticipated and fiercely competitive Olympic events.

Thad Lettsome will represent the BVI in ILCA Laser Sailing, a sport that tests skill, strategic acumen, and endurance. Lettsome’s inclusion highlights the diversity of talent within the territory’s athletic community.

The Paris Olympics, scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024, promises to be a significant event for these athletes.

The BVIOC has expressed confidence in the team, emphasising their hard work and commitment to excellence in their preparations for the Games.
