BVI Red Cross trains, certifies additional first aid instructors
As part of its 70th Anniversary celebrations, the BVI Red Cross has made a investment in strengthening its training capacity by certifying additional First Aid Instructors with the American Red Cross. During a three-day workshop held from 19-21 January 2026, Trishawna Lawrence and Aiesha Roberts of the BVI Red Cross and Jacob Adolphus of DDM were trained and certified as First Aid Instructors under the guidance of American Red Cross–certified trainer Joanna Coiselyn Pierre of the Dominican Red Cross.
Expanding the pool of certified instructors will allow the BVI Red Cross to significantly increase the number of people trained in life-saving skills across the territory. This directly supports the organisation’s mission to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises and emergencies.
Commenting on the importance of the training, the Director of the BVI Red Cross highlighted its long-term impact on both the organization and the wider community, noting that building local capacity is essential to strengthening resilience and saving lives.
The BVI Red Cross now has 9 certified trainers that are able to deliver training across the territory. Persons and companies who are interested in becoming first aid certified can register for a course by calling 494-6349, emailing us at [email protected] or completed a request for from our website at https://redcross.vg/get-involved/get-trained/
The BVI Red Cross is an overseas branch of the British Red Cross which forms part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, the world’s largest humanitarian organization.
