COI not about gov’t corruption! More to it than meets the eye

Premier Fahie

Premier Andrew Fahie has said the recently ordered Commission of Inquiry (COI) is not solely about determining whether the BVI’s government is corrupt.

He said he believes it is a veiled public statement that the territory will always need external assistance in order to manage its own internal affairs, which also includes the execution of good governance.

The Premier shared those sentiments on a recently broadcasted social media talk show where he said he believes the “entities” in the United Kingdom are doing whatever is best at the moment to help with their own financial situation.

“Our purpose and our mission as OTs individually and collectively are not always mutually aligned with that of the United Kingdom. There are cultural differences that seem to never be understood. But we are in an era where some persons in the UK entity still refer to us as if they own us and we have to understand that those languages from more than 400 years ago has to be eliminated,” Fahie argued.

“This is larger than people are thinking. This is not about whether the present government is corrupt or good, this is about always making the people feel that we’re not good enough to police ourselves. It’s about always making us feel that we need help in areas where we can help ourselves,” he added.

Help needed but must benefit mutually

Premier Fahie did not completely rule out external assistance, but he said whenever it is warranted, it must be executed in a manner that it can be mutually beneficial to both parties.

“We will always need help from the outside. We’ll always need a good partnership. But the partnership must be mutually respectable and I have seen many governors come and go and that there is their mission with the UK,” he stated.

COI a target on all BVI gov’ts

The leader of government business further said he believes the COI, which was ordered by former Governor Augustus Jaspert, is not only targeting the BVI’s sitting government, but all previous governments that ever existed in the territory.

“What has happened right now with this governor, what he has done with us and how he has done it internationally is not by accident. That is part of a larger plan, and that there, God alone has to help us along with the work that we’re going to do as a territory that we must unite and come forward with because what they’re doing is trying to say from the existence of the BVI there has never been a good government,” Premier Fahie explained.

  1. Don’t kill me! Jokes says:

So when the COI was first announced this same Premier jumped out and said that it is is because of the NDP projects which are over 3 years old that caused this. Now he is saying that the COI is not about corruption but about something else. And he already hire a lawyer at thousands of dollars per hour.
A l**r has memory at all. He must be making very frequent trips to the bathroom to clear his bowels since this COI was called. Everyday he is huffing and puffing about this. I have not seen anyone from the NDP break a sweat yet about the COI being called. If I had to make a guess, I would say that someone is acting quite guilty to me.

This man cannot sit down and keep his big mouth shut. Each day he tries to garner support and each day he losses more people. He used deflection in the past to gain support of the people. The people are not stupid. They see what he has done to this Territory and his attempt to become Papa Doc. Do we the people want to become Haiti with their poverty and disease. Well, this is the road he is taking. His wealth at the expense of us all. Wake up people and support the COI so that we and future generations can live well under good governance.

Imagine this picture of Good Governance. We are both god law abiding citizens and we both pay our taxes, NHI SS. We both have boats that float high as the rising tide comes in; unlike some boats stuck in the mud. You vote for party X and I vote for party Y; yet we both end up on a a statutory Board somewhere. I get a contract and you get a contract. Your daughter gets a scholarship, to study in the US. while my son gets a scholarship to study in the Uk. God forbid a dangerous hurricane hits the Bvis; we both get our damaged roofs repaired; thanks to Social Development. Christmas holidays come around. I get a Turkey and you get a Ham. Dies this scenario sounds to good to be true, or Utopia like? Of course not. Its just a picture of what True #BVILove looks like; #BVIStrong. Rodney King while being beating within minutes of his life on the streets of LA asked a simple question. Can we all get along?. Its just a mater of being respected and thought of as equal BVI citizens

    Yes Dear Leader…

The COI IS about corruption. It’s also about incompetence in governing as the BVI fails in its very basic abilities to do so.

Our government is similar to a kindergarten playground. Children all running about, screaming loudly, no order but mostly confusion. There are the bullies, those crying in the corner, yet all are there to have a good time. Nothing is accomplished other than letting off energy. Sound familiar?

The only difference is the eff tards in government get paid to do the same thing. And waste our money…

    But carry on.

The anti Fahie have really successfully pigeonholed that gentleman with the negative narrative, and its not locally of origin or driven.

And, it has successfully put many in the local population against him.

The lager number of anti Fahie blogs over the last two years, based on cultural syntax, have not been coming from local people. They have been coming from English folk.

It is always the case throughtout history, that when ever Black people demonstrate independency in thinking and desires to be free and independent people, they the former oppressor takes offense to their wishes.

Not a fan of the gentleman, but truth is truth. The upholders of imperialism, and neocolonialism really need to shift their political and human paradigm. When will enough be enough?

You don’t think the smell of corruption stink round here enough that Black people don’t notice?
England doesnt need BVI, its a pain in the backside. You may say we are the “Former oppressors” but most people in the UK dealing with over a decade of rising prices, falling income and a right-wing government’s attempt to oppress them through “austerity”. I think BVI should be independent, should be able to appoint its own head of state, its own Chief of Police. I also think the good people of these islands deserve not to have their country robbed by successive corrupt governments. Those two positions arent mutually exclusive.

Mr Premier, you told us in no uncertain terms, quite early on to that you are an Unconventional Leader; as if you meant it as a Plus. But clearly its not working. Perhaps you should consider rebranding yourself. There’s a reason why things are done and arranged Conventionally; because its been tried and done by others and works. Because of Unconventional systems Disorder seems more possible and prone to Disorder and more problematic. Things go wrong and errors and misjudgments can happen. Unfortunately that seems to be happening under your Unconventional Leadership. There appears to be much lack of Confidence and Distrust; and like the great American Blues musician, the late BB King in his song “The thrill is gone”, once Trust and Confidence is gone its difficult or even possible to reclaim. If I was the cloth guy on your team earning that outlandish salary for nothing the rest of know; but apparently Advising and Guiding you, my advice would be simple: Be Humble, be grateful and thankful. and to keep at the front of your mind, Empowerment of ALL the people; including me an unwavering VIP supporter for as long as I can remember; but without anything to show. Finally consider the leadership of “Lee Kuan Yew”, first Prime Minister of Singapore; (1959 – 1990) “Mr.Lee successfully turned Singapore from a third world to first world. The other 2 non western countries that managed to reach developed status are Taiwan and South Korea, but both are still behind Singapore in term of Human Development”

These were businesses of an afflient Black community. These were businesses were the envy of the white community.

These places were bombed from the air and burned to the ground by mobs of envious white people.

That destruction took place in 1921 in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Your call to bring in the royal marines troops could only mean similar to identical destruction of a Black community.

Afterall, there is no army, marines or civil unrest of any sort happening here in the BVI.

And in this community run by our Governments we have – no library in road town, $7 Million dollars spent and no planes, a post office without post boxes that struggles to deliver mail, despite paying for and building bus stops no public transport system, Government run supermarkets, over 700 businesses under stress, no 1000 jobs for 1000 people, more than 40+ struggling restaurants and well over 30 Churches in a country that now wants gambling and drugs to be our new economic and cultural power houses. Seems like this country doing a great job of destroying its own community when it continues to be led with leaders who one day say that say past Ministers and Governments are corrupt and the next day say they were not. Businesses that were once affluent and envied by others are now being drag raced to destruction and it is all being done without any help from wicked outside forces as happened in Tulsa, but by our very own so called leaders.

Premier Andrew Fahie, Hear we go again with the BS every day you come on the news telling people how you have nothing to hide and let them bring on the Commission of Inquiry (COI, If someone Accused me of something and I know that I am innocent I won’t be carrying on like you every day blaming other people for things, You are the one in the hot seat you need to stop talking.
You talk about the execution of good governance that’s a joke your government is the worst government in BVI history, You want Independence, but you said that the territory will always need external assistance in order to manage its own internal affairs, Where are you planning to get that assistance from China? Why are you so worried about the UK financial situation?

Andrew wake up as a people the UK don’t own us they own the BVI and that’s what you don’t understand, You don’t show any respect to the UK.

You got mad with the UK when they won’t sine the loan on your terms, this is now how w can move forward when you keep going 400 years.

You said this is not about whether the present government is corrupt or good, , this is about always making the people feel that we’re not good enough to police ourselves. , the only person you can blame for this is yourself with your no respect to the UK or the governor, if is not Andrew Fahies way it’s the high way, you reached as far as you are going with your B***Y ways.

These are your words; we will always need help from the outside. We’ll always need a good partnership; on the other hand, you are pushing for Independence.
I can go on and on but there is too much to be said, I just hope that the UK will save us from this government before it’s too late.

These are What has happened right now with this governor, what he has done with us, and how he has done it internationally is not by accident. That is part of a larger plan, and that there, God alone has to help us along with the work that we’re going to do as a territory that we must unite and come forward with because what they’re doing is trying to say from the existence of the BVI there has never been a good government,” Premier Fahie explained.
