COVID surge affects operations of 5 more gov’t departments

Five additional government departments have adjusted their operating hours, with some only offering remote services because of the concerning uptick in COVID-19 cases.

These departments are the Civil Registry & Passport Office, the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry, Town & Country Planning, the Inland Revenue Office on Virgin Gorda, and the Premier’s Office.

Management of the Passport Office said its department will open for a limited time daily by appointment only. The office will operate between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm until July 23.

The Shipping Registry will be open for business as usual from 8:30 am to 3 pm but beyond that time, services will be delivered by appointment only.

The Town & Country Planning Department said it will provide services remotely from July 14 to July 23. Physical operations will resume on July 26.

Meanwhile, the Inland Revenue Office on Virgin Gorda will also provide services remotely from Tuesday, July 13 to Friday, July 23, “to ensure the health and safety” of officers and clients. They also plan to resume physical operations on July 26.

As for the Premier’s Office, it will provide services remotely from July 13 to July 14 and will resume physical operations by tomorrow, July 15.

All appointments for the respective offices can be made by contacting the government’s Customer Service Care Centre at 284-468-3701 or by using its online appointment portal

Public Health England’s latest technical briefing:

    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1001358/Variants_of_Concern_VOC_Technical_Briefing_18.pdf

Shows the following data for the Delta variant of a total of 123,620 cases:

    7% 21 days post 1st dose.
    8.8% received 2 doses.
    58.2% were unvaccinated.

Shows the following data for cases with an emergency care visit of a total of 4,141:
(In brackets: percentage of total cases)

    7.3% 21 days post 1st dose.(3.7%)
    10.5% received 2 doses.(4%)
    65% were unvaccinated.(3.7%)

Shows the following data for cases resulting in overnight inpatient admission of a total of 1,165:
(In brackets: percentage of total cases)

    6.4% 21 days post 1st dose.(1%)
    15% received 2 doses.(1.6%)
    63% were unvaccinated.(1.02%)

Shows the following data for deaths within 28 positive specimen date, of a total of 257:

    0.4% 21 days post 1st dose.
    46% received 2 doses.
    36% were unvaccinated.

From the above data it is firstly clear that of a total 257 deaths by Delta variant 63.5% were vaccinated, whereas only 36% were un-vaccinated.

It is also clear that the product on offer from AstraZeneca offers very little protection against the Delta variant. This is corroborated by numerous other studies.

This is simply an incorrect and tendentious reading of these data. Just to point out some of your failures from this study:
Of the 123,620 Delta cases admitted to ER, 8.7% had received 2 doses of vaccine. 21% had received one or two doses. The other 79% were unvaccinated or unknown. Fatality numbers are due to any cause of death within 28 days after a positive Covid result e.g cancer. No specific vaccine is referred in this study – both AZ and BionTech are administered in UK.

      viz:
By 4 July 2021, the overall vaccine uptake in England for dose 1 was 61.1% and 45.5% for dose 2. Based on antibody testing of blood donors, 88.1% of the adult population now to COVID-19 from either infection or vaccination compared to 16.1% that have antibodies from infection alone. Over 95% of adults aged 40 or older have
antibodies from either infection or vaccination. The latest estimates indicate that the
vaccination programme has directly averted over 46,300 hospitalisations. The vaccination programme has prevented between 7.5 and 8.9 million infections and between 29,000 and 31,800 deaths.

Your analysis is flawed and does not control for age. The vast majority of fully vaccinated are elderly and thus overall more susceptible to the virus. The overwhelming majority of current active cases are in persons under 45 years of age who are at lower risk of death. Please redo your analysis in an apples to apples comparison based on age groups and refer to the overall case to death ratio that has diverged since the majority of the UK population was vaccinated.

Please stop misleading people with improper statistical analysis. It only hurts the people around you.
