COVID under control, revisit entry protocols — Walwyn
It is time to revisit the BVI’s entry requirements. This is according to former Education Minister within the National Democratic Party (NDP), Myron Walwyn.
The former legislator said this was particularly in light of all the other challenges that are currently threatening the territory’s economic health; over which there is no control.
“The effects of the current conflict in Russia and the Ukraine on our tourism sector must be closely examined. We recently saw some light at the end of the tunnel in this sector but any increase in fuel cost could possibly undermine that progress if it forces airlines and other stakeholders to increase their fares,” Walwyn said in a recent Facebook post.
With the local tourism sector still in the recovery stage, Walwyn said the BVI should do everything within its grasp to ease the access to the territory.
“Other countries that are more accessible by air have relaxed their COVID entry protocols. Countries like Puerto Rico and Antigua have recently relaxed their entry requirements, the latter has even made mask wearing optional,” Walwyn argued.
He added: “We have to be more diligent and percipient. This is serious business!”
The former legislator’s comments came days after the government decided to relax some of the various COVID-19 protocols as a result of the declining number of cases recorded in the territory.
At the time, Health Minister Carvin Malone said Cabinet decided that the quarantine period of unvaccinated persons entering the territory will be moved from seven days to five days.
The BVI has recorded more than 6,000 cases and 62 deaths since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 19,000 persons have been recorded as fully and partially vaccinated according to the most recent COVID-19 epidemiological summary.

At least Myron admits the government has something under control. Unlike Marlon he would be in denial. Myron would make a better party leader. I say it I say it. Don’t settle Myron. You are being pushed down because they fear your success.
Why are we punishing healthy people by placing them in quarantine even though they tested negative?
It’s ridiculous. We all know the vaccines don’t stop transmission, so quarantine is pointless. It’s just cruel and unusual punishment for not complying with the regime.
Mr. Walwyn, it is always a pleasure hearing from you but at this stage the people would like to know if you are likely to be a candidate in the upcoming election.
We just can’t take anymore of the current administration and we need some hope that the VI would be under sound leadership in the near future.
I’m pretty sure he will contest a seat in the next election and he will be voted in hands down. Voting him out was a big mistake and I don’t care what anybody says. He wasn’t always right but he did far more than all of these current Ministers combined and nobody can dispute it.

Too soon to relax any protocols for the unvaccinated persons on the planet. According to various news sources the Asians in China and Hong Kong are enduring strong surges of the Covid virus now. Virus cases jumped here from 13 to 38 in 5 days so get ready for another surge in April and May 2022.
But you can relax for vaccinated so do it. If unvaccinated people come in with a negative test why quarantine them at this stage? It makes no sense.
It is the “vaccinated” that is spreading the virus cause they now have the spike protein since taking the jab. Do not be fooled!

Myron was one of the best elected representatives we have had in the BVI in a long time. The break up of the NDP caused by the people who did not the party elections is what made the VIP win. I still blame them for all the mess the country is in because of their selfishness and greed for power. I would like to see Myron back in the House of Assembly.
I am not fan of the NDP but it would have been good to have myron in the House. I know between him and Andrew Fahie it would have been action in there. Cause none of them would be backing down from the next. He would have kept Andrew and the VIP on their toes.
