Daring armed robbery reported at Pier Park’s House of Luxury
Two men, dressed in all white, were seen running away from the scene of a robbery today, July 1, at the Cyril B Romney Tortola Pier Park.
Reports indicate that the men conducted a robbery at the House of Luxury jewellery store at the Pier Park just around 2pm today.
In amateur video footage seen by BVI News, the men appeared to be running towards the exit of the Pier Park while firing shots in the air from what appeared to be high-powered automatic weapons.
Screams from persons at the Pier Park during the daring daylight robbery filled the air as the men made good their escape.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a brief release later confirmed the incident and said it is now seeking witnesses to the robbery. Police said no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
A notice later issued by the Pier Park’s management also confirmed that the two assailants robbed House of Luxury at gun point.
“We ask for your patience in allowing the RVIPF to finish forensic investigation. Accordingly, the areas within the radius to include Buildings 6, 13, 7 and 3 are cordoned off until further notice,”.

Apparently they knew they’re weren’t adequate cameras. Or else why ask for witnesses??
Everybody got a gun these days cause the law keeps giving criminals a slap on the wrist and maybe a few months in the hotel on the hill. The criminals feel they are running the show and are unstoppable.
Could it have been some of the entourage from the non stop concert or maybe the demons jumped out from some of the ratchet songs and possess people? The country is not safe physically or spiritually and we have a clown to thank for that.
Not “Daring”!!
Don’t use language that encourages people to think of this action as anything but criminal and cowardly. Shooting off a high powered weapon as they escaped!
Felonious Fools!
after millions spend on the police close to 9 million in three years, plus over 40 UK police officers here that we are paying for the rape of the people and treasury continues with no results!!!
This place going to the dogs. Smh. I hope no one was hurt.
The cruise ships will like that.
When I moved here what happened today started happening on a regular basis in St Croix. It within 6 months closed down the tourism industry in St Croix. Cruise ships stopped going, planes stopped going and it sent it in to the big decline that it’s 20 years later not really moved on from.
The people here in formal and illegal authority realized that open crime was not good for the BVI and the little flare up that happened here was stopped. Anything that happened was by and large between the players in the illegal shipping industry and did not interfere with Jo Public. Everywhere was safe.
Today’s shannagins has the danger, if allowed to continue to damage the entire economy of the BVI. Those who were babies and children 20 years ago need to understand that no matter how desperate, there are something’s that you don’t do because it will affect your friends and families long term future negatively for relatively small gain in the short term. Mainstream crime is not cool and is a threat to the economic wellbeing of everyone in this small society and damages most those that already have little. I hope that again those in the top of their respective industries will use their influence and understand that everyone looses when today’s actions are allowed to happen.
Two PUNKS running like girls dressed like they’re early for an All White Party proves they don’t have a bit of common sense to know that not only did they draw attention to themselves in their Dumb and Dumber outfits but there are cameras EVERYWHERE!!
Don’t be fooled to think it’s definitely two males.
By the way that person is holding the bag/gun whatever it is under their arm and how they are running, that’s a woman’s figure trying to keep up with the one in front.
Banco Popular has an ATM right there where they were running and more than likely a camera outside. Only a matter of time before they get locked up.
Banco, First Caribbean, Scotia, First Bank and even if they went through the side by Maria’s Hotel, Social Security Board, the Romney building more than likely have cameras.
WHAT NAME YOU WANT TO CALL IT , IT WAS CARRIED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AND THE KINDS OF GUNS I HEAR THEY HAVE ON THE STREET NOW , IN THIS ONCE PEACEFUL COUNTRY , IT IS BEGINING TO GET SCARY ? ? , THEN AGAIN PEOPLE ARE GETTING AWAY WITH COLDBLOODED EXECUTION STYLE MURDERS HERE NOW , SO MAYBE IT A PIECE OF CAKE FOR THEM / BUT FOR THOSE IN THAT CITUATION WHERE EVERYTHING IS GOING ON AS USUAL , AND ALL OF SUDDEN YOUR HEAR GUN SHOTS START BLASTING OFF , YOU MIGHT THINK DIFFERENTLY ? / THANKFULLY NO ONE GOT HURT ( ACCORDING TO HOW CLOSE SOME WERE MMYHEY MAY OF PISZ OR DO -DO THEMSELVES BUT THANK GOD THEY AN ON THE LAND OF THE LIVING STILL ?
Inside Job?
I would more believe that the one in the back has some form of injury that affected their running. Maybe also juggling between heavy stolen jewelry and a gun, you would not expect them to sprint would you. People need to be mindful that the criminals may be blogging to throw the public off. There were no females. There were two males, possibly one with an existing injury.
Dress like a tourist and come in on a water taxi. Nobody looking what you bring.
It did effect Jo Public…that’s how all these guns got onto the island!! They’re greed and disregard for the community will be felt for decades to come.
Lord have Mercy upon your Children. This Territory is in serious trouble. The level of Crimes speak to the state of our Territory. This Territory continues to be at an all time low. God is angry with the state of this BVI. Lord send help. Who is tackling the crimes in this Territory? NO ONE. Lord we need a change. Churches are sold out!! Sin has taken over this Territory. God is not pleased. God’s Nostrils are burning for this Territory. When will this end? Are we any better than we were four years ago? People it’s time to rise up. This Territory needs serious Ethnic cleansing. All other topics are given top priority. What about the state of our Territory with all these crimes? When will the vast number of unsolved murders be given attention? When will our Elected Officials rally with the Electorates and say Enough is Enough. Lord do what you have to do to bring about change in this Territory. Lord we need your intervention if the Territory of these Virgin Islands is to Rise. Lord have Mercy upon this BVI. How much more Lord? How much more?
Look at House of Luxury tapes for the last 7 days, these Robbers had to be inside tbe store checking out what they want. What they were coming for…Then check the body type..Plus cameras will pick them up on their way in..Before Monday these two will be in Prison.
Pray to Jesus our BVI children have become wicked in the Devil. Only our pastors can bring dem Wickedness back to the light.
1/ A visible security would have and could have prevented this.. 2/ The fact they walked in as customers They seem to be foreigners on vacation had no idea the amt of Cameras TPP has,.3/ already left the territory by now….4/ A living resident choice would have been a motor bike,Scooter easy in,7 easy out. 5/ Their identity will be known quickly..6/ A vehicle had to be waiting for them and someone must have seen them get into a vehicle..7/ Hope BVI & USVI coast guard and airport authorities were quickly notified..8/ they will be arrested overseas and escorted back here to pay..9/ we will be surprised when we find out who they are..
Why do you call it daring?
It sounds like you admire it
The police need to release the security camera video so people could help identify them criminals.
Why the current Premier and 5th District Rep STILL have NOT REMOVED THAT GREEN CLOTH ON THE LAMPPOST across from that new hotel near Huntums Ghut?????!!!!????!!!!!
LEGACY OF FAHIE AND MAYNARD
The first thing I noticed when taking a screenshot of the video and blowing it up is that it DOES LOOK LIKE A WOMAN in the back (shape, hairstyle, the way the criminal was running) and they had a small bag or something under their arm holding it like a woman.
The one in the front had a backpack with what could have had the jewelry in it. THINK.
Can’t be the only one that thinks that EVEN THOUGH the criminals may be hoping police run with that scenario if they indeed are males.
Please exercise your brain cells and comment something with sense.
These are two IMBECILES not tourists.
Why would anyone come from the USVI to Tortola to steal jewelry SMH.
Blogging to attempt to throw off the police from the real culprits will NOT work!
The entire BVI tourism product.
It was good (well, not good but it was ok) while it lasted.
Did you read it? No! But you listened to VIP spew all manner of nonsense about it and you kicked up against it! They ended up passing a watered down version. You cannot expect the police to fight modern crime with an Act from the 60s! Wake up people. The police are not perfect but they are not to be blamed for our issues. Raise your children to be responsible adults and you wouldn’t need the police!
Are there tweaks needed to the police bill, yes. Get those sorted and pass the doggone bill, Government of the Virgin Islands! You guys are causing more harm than good. There’s a Bar Association which is silent. If the bill is that bad, speak up Bar Association. If not, GoVI please do the right thing without further delay!
The St. Croix story is not as simple as you portray it. It’s image as a tourist destination was seriously tarnished when armed rebels/acrivists got on a golf course and ended up shooting dead some cruise shop tourists unlucky to be on the links at that time. That’s about when the cruise ships stopped going to STX.
Those people either work at a boat yard or at the hospital. Those are two places to start first.
Tourist Board – we had a nonstop party!!! What more do you want us to do?
I want to know if the board approved that party?!
We keep asking where the guns are coming from but in my opinion there isn’t any local person that has connections with gun traffickers although the guns could be smuggled by one and two’s. It is extremely hard to get large quantities of firearms. Which means that they are being smuggled by people associated with radical groups. What we do know is that the we have to look into the kinds of people living in this country with those kinds of conditions. For example, I may be people that was in the army or group that come from countries with lots of fighting and explosives. All I know is that we have to do something quick before we lose our tourism. New money is what floats Amy economy.
Maybe after the tourism is dead, the premier can have a nonstop-nonstop party. That should do the trick to revive it. See? Already solved.
these men were professionals, notice the head lamps they wore to help hide their faces
Read again your comments.
1. I would hasten to say that I do not think there are Parents who would send their Children to do wrong. Then again, I could be wrong. What I do believe is that there are Parents who know of the activities of their Children and maybe speaking to them about it but will not alert the Authorities for various reasons. Then there are Children who have left their Parents homes and are living on their own and are into illegal activities. Then there are Hardback men and Women who are also into criminal activities. Then there are Upstanding, Christian Parents, Politicians, Bishops, Business Men and Women whose Children are the biggest Culprits. Guns are easily imported into the BVI because everybody looks at certain Characters and think they would NEVER be involved in such activities. You may be surprised if you only know who are behind these Crimes. The World is often dubbed as Global but the World is just a step away. I am sure Guns are entering this Territory everyday and most people are aware but the Politics are what destroy a Nation. When you don’t call out wrong for what it is or whom it is, these are the results. BVI is already just like anywhere else. Do you know who your Neighbour is? Parents MUST try their best to Educate their Children and also, know who your Children are associated with. A Nation without God is a Nation doomed to fail. There are Countries with Hundreds of Churches but have Thousands of Crimes. Going to Church every week saying Lord, Lord is not it. Making a statement when you hear of another Crime, is not it. Only time will tell. Those that are praying continue. God does hear and answers Prayers.
@Police bill……
The BVI Bar Association is nothing more than a glorified country club for lawyers.
@just think…..
Wherever drugs are being trafficked, guns are also close behind. But I get where you are coming from.
So every one has a gun because the laws are lax. That doesn’t make it legal to own one. You might as well use the rationale of no enforcement or accountability to not folow any laws at all.
Through it all, all the robberies, all the drug runnings, all the violence, no one mentions the wages in the BVI. Prices on everything is going up, silently inflation is killing us & we stay talking about “our youths”. Well instead of chatting do something! What is there for the youths to do in the BVI for free other than go to the beach everyday? They grow up watching their parents go though this never ending struggle, working their whole to buy a piece of land & build a house. If “WE THE PEOPLE” want to see a change, “WE THE PEOPLE” have to change the way we think & get to the “ROOT CAUSE”. Between the corrupted churches & the crooked government, from the people ah u call queens & kings to the people ah u call PM & pastors, none is concerned about “WE THE PEOPLE”!
same kind of robbery was done on st Thomas and in st John police agencies need to work together to trying figure out if it is the same band of criminals…They must have a market for the jewelry if they keep pulling this kind go heist
That’s correct. Fountain Valley Murders/ Labeet killed tourism in ST Croix 50 years ago!! It seems BVI is working hard on repeating HISTORY with allowing the greed and corruption of the Leaders.
As for me my ears are down to the ground i will rat them out who vex vex game on
For slow sales to see if heist done for insurance payout.
Definitely women.
careful bro just as you have ears they have ears as well
Maybe.
But while we deny work permits to steady, honest ex pats that have been here for 15 or 18 years, labour and immigration still supports some ‘bahn heah’, who bring in hookers and gangs from other islands. Are we sure this is ‘our children’? It could be a legally imported ready made gang.
That’s for real. The water taxis come and the captain takes the passport to immigration and no one checks anything. By
I don’t give a rats associate about who have ears. We are decedents of warriors give us regular people the ability and we will fight for our country. F them.
Legalize weapons we on the same level. There is a reason they run around with mask people will jump them with rock and stone otherwise.
This sounds like an inside job. Mostly likely, the perpetrators know that they cannot wear or fence the stolen goods on this island, so mostly likely those goods are off island by now.
Time will tell!
That’s smart you fool you can’t see nothing if you ducking for cover retard.
The BROKE ships? The I need to save for a year to take a cruise SHIPS? What do they buy besides food? it’s WEST BANK the reason most those jewelry store still open. They going learn.
What with our superior detectives? LOL!
