December 11 declared as a special public holiday for Ralph O’Neal’s state funeral

Government has announced that Wednesday, December 11, 2019, is now a special public holiday in the British Virgin Islands.

The decision was made to allow residents to be a part of the state funeral for the late former Premier, Ralph T O’Neal.

“The holiday will allow for a national day of mourning and for the public to attend and participate in all aspects of the state funeral,” a government-commissioned media release explained.

Acting Governor David Archer, Jr made the declaration of the holiday on the advice of Cabinet.

The late O’Neal, who hails from Virgin Gorda, passed away at the age of 85 on Monday, November 11.

He holds the record as the longest-serving elected representative in the territory and is recognised for his outstanding contributions in service of the British Virgin Islands.

    What ever the BVI shows US to do for the First and One of the Leaders of Leaders Late Hon. Ralph O’Neal will be greatly appreciated since he carried that important TORCH in bringing the BVI in positions of growth of a Caribbean island such as the BVI.
