DMV’s licence machine inoperable amid record demand
Amid a reported surge in motor vehicle and scooter licensing, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced that its driver’s license machine is currently out of service, impacting its ability to issue new licenses.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 5, the DMV informed the public that the machine is temporarily nonfunctional. While no further details were provided, the department assured residents that updates on the resumption of this essential service would follow.
The disruption could pose challenges for motorists who rely on the DMV for license renewals or first-time applicants who need licenses to operate vehicles in the territory. The DMV has not indicated if any provisional licenses will be issued to accommodate those affected.
Earlier this year, the Minister of Communication and Works reported a record-breaking 20,000 vehicle registrations in 2023, highlighting a growing demand for licensing services in the territory.
This increase points not only to rising vehicle ownership but also to a demand for new and renewed licenses for both new and returning drivers.

Tola is a waste of time if you seeking government services in a decent timing go vg. Issa shame to pay 60 dollars just to get proper government services that your tax is paying for. But we here worried about usa election
are the majority of drivers visiting the DMV. Perhaps it’s time to lengthen the licence renewal period to 5 or 6 years for car drivers under the age of 70 and 3 years for those 70 and older.
Very good suggestion. Hope the Minister listening
Replacement will take a week at rhe most. That is calling management.
More silliness! In risk management they professors will tell you ,if a machine is working every day, get two of those machine if your business need to run efficiently.
every 3 years I need to renew and every three years, the machines are down…laughing.
same s&$# different year..
this not cool. Persons need to show a valid drivers licence card to U.S car rental companies when renting a vehicle so they can go about their business. Now this. Maintainance, maintenance, maintenance. Do we properly maintain anything here or just wait for crap to just shut down
all they have to do is hit up the people with the machine that print the fake licenses and belonger cards
