Erickson’s murder is still a loss to our community

Bishop John Cline

Bishop John Cline has stated that the murder of Nyron Erikson remains a loss to the Virgin Islands community, regardless of his reported ties to criminal activity.

The clergyman made the statement during a discussion on crime on the National Democratic Party (NDP) radio show, aired on May 19.

“Speaking of crime, we offer condolences to the family of Nyron Erikson. In spite of whatever has gone on with him, the truth of the matter is that he’s somebody’s son, father and brother, and they are feeling his loss. Any loss to our community is a loss,” Bishop Cline said.

His comments come amid growing criticism from members of the public who allege that elected leaders and law enforcement are giving “special attention” to Erikson’s killing — despite his known links to the drug trade, which has contributed to destabilizing the territory.

Some residents have further suggested that the perceived attention is due to Erikson’s connections to prominent families with deep ancestral roots in the BVI.

However, the police have denied these claims, stating that no special treatment is being given to the case. Authorities say the heightened attention stems from concerns that Erikson’s murder could spark reprisals that may endanger the wider public.

Also appearing on the May 19 NDP radio show was Eighth District Representative Marlon Penn, who extended condolences to Erikson’s family. He emphasized the need for a community-led approach to tackling crime, noting the fear that prevents residents from coming forward with information.

“We need a community-based approach. Right now the community is afraid to come forward because they fear for their lives. There needs to be a sense of trust between law enforcement and the people,” Penn stated.

No loss whatsoever preacher – let the criminals rot in hell for what they have turned our beautiful Virgin Islands into. And don’t tell me the family don’t know what was going on either.

    • Are we becoming a Narco State? says:

Asure sign of the begginings of a Narco state is when the public , Government officals and the Clergy become so afriad that they essentially endore bad behaviour. No one is saying that a death should be celebrated but if a person lives by the sowrd and certainly if they have allegedely been responsible for the demise of others then they must be held accountable for their actions.

What the hell is going on here? This has been an unprecedented outpouring of sorrow, loss, concern, and promised resolution by the talking heads, power brokers, and Government officials. In all my days here, I have never seen such coordination between groups that generally despise each other … but even more alarming is the all too apparent divide between the general populus and their feeling towards a major career criminal and the above motioned groups that seem to have so suddenly and transparently aligned on a matter of agreement amongst themselves that none of us other simple and common folk can understand.

Our people have been murdered, robbed, and shot at and no such concerns or urgency were ever applied like this! Our infrastructure, our very fabric of our social society is coming apart at the seams and this is what the media, the politicians, the police, and the Government choose to show outrage and concern over? Is this what it truly takes for them to become resolute?

C’mon man, nah, something is VERY VERY wrong here! Sometime soon, we the people need to wake up and see that we are well past the tipping point, all while the last fingers of hope desperately cling onto a slippery edge from which a return offers no easy road back!

It truly is! I am not judging him for the crimes they said he committed.. I didn’t know him personally but all I know is that when he saw my in public he had the utter most respect for me… he alway said hello and spoke as if him and I were school friends.. that’s the Erickson I knew and that is how I will remember him.

No surprise here John cline aligning with NDP which under them and Marlon hogging the leadership as a bystander I’m telling you bvi will remain and become a heavier narco state. These men mind frame stink and dangerous like the narco itself. BVI will not get any better.

Murder is never right. However, celebrating the person that inflicted so much violence and fear in our society is rediculous!! What Erickson received is what he did to others. What his family is feeling, is exactly what countless other families have experienced. Karma is a real thing.
