ESHS student charged after knife incident with schoolmate
BVI News understands that a 16-year-old male student of the Elmore Stoutt High School was arrested and charged after an alleged altercation in which he attempted to stab one of his schoolmates.
Information reaching our news centre is that there is a second perpetrator involved but he hasn’t been charged. Our news centre also understands that the disagreement is over an alleged video that is being circulated in the school community.
Reports are that both the young man who was charged and his friend were attempting to fight a fellow student at a gas station in the community. Police officers were called to the scene where they reportedly observed the 16-year-old with a knife.
It’s reported that the officers told the young man to surrender the weapon but he refused and pocketed it. When the officers attempted to retrieve the knife, the 16-year-old tossed it to his friend, BVI News was told.
Our sources say the students were still trying to stab their schoolmate in the presence of the police officers.
After the unsuccessful attempt to stab their schoolmates, the two young men reportedly ran from the scene. It’s understood that students helped the police identify the boys.
The 16-year-old was later arrested and charged. It’s understood he was released on bail thereafter.

Attempted murder and or assault with a deadly weapon aggravated by the fact that attempts were continued in the presence of the police and he tried to get rid of the weapon being the evidence!! Which part of that is suitable for bail. If police orders did not stop him, a court order will? Backward place.
I hope and pray that the Mother of the victim gets a restraining order for the safety of her son…because if i read right..even in the police presence he still tried to stab this youngman…ONLY GOD KNOWS IF HE WOULD NOT RETALIATE NOW THAT HE HAS BEEN CHARGED…AND WHY IS THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SO QUIET ON THESE ISSUES??

The young man who caught the knife when it was thrown to him should be charged with accessory to attempted murder if there is such a charge.
The inept Minister of Education said he doesn’t believe in suspension. Clueless to say the least. In way way over her head.
I encourage parents of any student injured by bullies like him to bring a suit against the government. Criminals should be in prison not in school terrorizing other student who are there to lean. Sorry to say by our so called Minister of Education hasn’t a clue. Weakling.

16 years of age and so very angry that you are trying to kill another child like urself. These unruly behaviours starts at home and spill over into the schools and the parents expects the teachers to control them; tell me how, they dont even respect you who will they respect? . Some of those children parents dares not try to correct them about anything else is bad words and tantrums under their tails.

This is a true embarrassment to the police force. The boys should never have been allowed to leave the scene at lib. The officers perhaps, need additional training.
Parents, train your children in a manner that they learn to respect the value of human life. Teach them how to manage conflict and find nonviolent solutions to deal with their problems. If we do a better job as parents, most of these issues will cease to exist.
