Expats should have permits to work at festival – Gov’t
The government has issued a notice, warning booth operators at festival villages on Tortola not to employ expats without the necessary work permit approval.
“All employers operating on the Festival Grounds during the upcoming BVI Emancipation Festival are reminded that they are to apply for and obtain a work permit for any non-Belonger/non-BVIslander they desire to employ,” the government said.
It added, “Employers are encouraged to submit applications within five to 10 days in advance of commencement of work. Failure to do so will render persons in direct violation of section 171 of the 2010 Labour Code.”
