UPDATE: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram back up

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have regained function.

The apps, owned by Facebook, stopped working Monday for millions of users across the globe and were down for more than six hours.

Facebook and its corresponding applications including WhatsApp and Instagram went down on Monday and many persons fear they may be gone forever.

A large section of the applications’ routing information has been deleted.

This signals a ‘code red’ situation for the tech/social media giants. The developed tools and emails are all gone and the domain has been removed from the global registry.

A quick search on Google showed the ‘Facebook.com’ server IP address could not be found.

Around 11 am local time, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Oculus began displaying error messages. Within five minutes, the site disappeared from the internet. Hours later, the site still has not regained function.

According to Facebook’s Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer: “We [Facebook] are experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore as fast as possible”.

This crash comes after Facebook whistle-blower Frances Haugen, a 37-year-old former Facebook product manager, revealed that Facebook knows its platforms are used to spread hate, violence and misinformation.

She said the company has tried to hide the evidence.

“The thing I saw at Facebook over and over again was there were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook, and Facebook over and over again chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more money,” Haugen told “60 Minutes.”

They ain’t shut down. They just need an “inventory day” to sort out all of our personal information they take so they can bundle it up and sell it to the corporations that bombard us with adverts.

The interesting part is the people who going go to bed early cause they don’t got social media to stunt for or entertain themselves. Read a book or go get high as a kite with some music.

A mandatory break from your digital slave masters, people. Enjoy it.
