Female driver accused of beating male driver

Magistrate’s Court, John’s Hole

Female motorist Etta Duverger has appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on allegations that she had beaten a male driver during a road rage.

Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-Dabreo granted Duverger $20,000 bail after the accused woman pleaded not guilty to common assault.

Allegations are that, about 6:30pm on November 19 last year, the male complainant was driving when he encountered Duverger who was also driving.

The prosecution told the court that the two motorists were on a narrow road in Horsepath that leads to their respective residences.

It is alleged that, after the drivers made unsuccessful attempts to pass each other, Duverger exited her vehicle and started to argue with the complainant.

According to the prosecution, Duverger allegedly grabbed the complainant by the neck and pushed him.

The court heard that the man fought to escape Duverger’s grip.

The altercation eventually ended when another person intervened.

The matter was reported to police.

The prosecution stated that, when police met the accused woman, they noticed that she had a ‘slight swelling’ to the head.

It did not explain how Duverger ended up with the ‘slight swelling’.

However, she was charged. Duverger is scheduled to return to court on July 5.
