Former Speaker arrested on suspicion of human trafficking
Information coming out of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has suggested that former House of Assembly Speaker, Julian Willock has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.
In a Whatsapp message to the RVIPF Information Unit on Tuesday evening, January 10, BVI News made inquiries to the police about whether they had indeed detained the former Speaker.
The police then replied: “On 10th January 2023 officers from the Royal Virgin Island Police Force arrested a 55-year-old male following an investigation into visa waiver anomalies and suspected human trafficking into the BVI. He was subsequently released under investigation. Given this is an ongoing and complex investigation the RVIPF will make no further comment in relation to it.”
BVI News then asked whether if that was the police’s official response to our question about Willock; to which they responded, “yes”.
Our news then inquired about the cryptic nature of the police’s response and further ask them to explicitly confirm that Willock was indeed the 55-year-old man to which they were referring.
The police then responded, “I cannot”.
BVI News will provide more information on this developing story as it becomes available.

As happy as I am to see these guys get taken down, this is clearly a witch hunt and makes me wonder why the law wasn’t being enforced over the years. Do they only now realize that crimes were being committed? This is a case of giving us enough rope to hang ourselves.

I can name another 2 ministers that could be charged with the same offence , brinigng in workers on permits saying one thing but working at Spanish Bars doing other things, this is the exact same charge that has been allegedly levelled at the old speaker of the house…..so who’s next and what about all the bar owners that do the eact same thing, think Sea Cows Bay all those bar owners need to be charged for the same offence.
