Governor hosts VIcons during inaugural awards ceremony

Governor Daniel Pruce hosted the inaugural training ceremony for VIcons on Friday, October 18, at Government House.

During the evening’s award ceremony, 34 individuals received certificates of completion after participating in a six-to-seven month programme that offered both theoretical and practical training in various aspects of production.

These participants played a crucial role as volunteer producers for the Virgin Islands Icon Awards, the territory’s largest collaborative stage project to date.

Five individuals were recognised for their exceptional contributions and were awarded iPads, sponsored by SAID Electronics, iSmart, and other local businesses.

Alyah Mohabir was honoured as Volunteer of the Year, receiving a VIcon Awards trophy and a monetary award of $2,500 to support her future education. The other top awardees included Cahen Fahie, Trisha Shortte, Tanesha Warner, and Victoria Mahoney.

The Virgin Islands Icon Awards took place on July 1, 2024, featuring 26 categories. The event was hosted by Temulji Hughes and executively produced by Kareem-Nelson Hull, with sponsorship from the Office of the Premier and various businesses across the territory.
