Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut.

Government has issued visitation restrictions on Her Majesty’s Prison and residential establishments.

Premier Andrew Fahie made the announcement during a special COVID-19 media briefing on Tuesday, March 17 and said the measures are aimed at protecting the territory’s vulnerable population amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Cabinet agreed that visits to and from Her Majesty’s Prison are restricted mandatorily for a period of 30 days, with the exception of emergency situations determined by the facility to necessitate a visit, subject to advice from the Attorney General,” Premier Fahie stated.

He further said Cabinet also decided that local children’s and elderly homes are advised to prohibit all visits, except in instances of emergency.

The establishments listed by the Premier include the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly, Virgin Gorda Elderly Home, Rainbow Children’s Home and Safe Haven Transitional Centre.

He added that restrictions will also include other private residential facilities which may be added as Cabinet make future amendments.

It is best not to visit anyone in the prison or nursing home or children homes because you stand the risk of taking the virus in the above mentioned facilities. No matter what you prisoners got up there going on between yourselves, everyone have to ban together and keep your home/cells clean and personal hygiene is a must.
