It’s decided! April 24 is Election Day
The date for the upcoming general elections has been decided and will be on April 24, 2023.
Advance Polling will happen four days earlier on April 20.
Governor John Rankin signed the proclamation detailing election day moments ago in accordance with Section 86 of the Virgin Islands constitution.
Section 86 states: “A general election shall be held at such time within two months, but not earlier than 21 days, after every dissolution of the House of Assembly as the Governor shall appoint by proclamation published in the Gazette.”
The House of Assembly was dissolved last Friday, March 10, 2023.

All VIP derelicts need to go no more bullshit in destruction of our BVI.I don’t care who cross floor/ switch party anything or anyone associated with VIP is BAD BAD BAD
VIP lead the way with 6 seats in Coalition Govt with 6 Seats. Same 0, Same old.
VIP waited until they had their full thirteen candidates to DECIDE ON AN ELECTION DATE…
…. AND posted their candidates 8:38pm around the same time as the Election date announcement.
Well I hope that the UK steps in. Because the VIP is up to their old tricks even now with their former head as a consultant.
Who are the district 9 candidates?
It is now a known fact, intuitionalized and otherwise discer, that the entire VIP team were of self enrichment, not development of country. The head got caught, the others took over the mission. Willnever for the statement, “shut your mouth, i going in to do what everybody else efore did. They are in power right now and in control of the purse. Sad.
Is this an early April Fools Day joke?
This “Announcement”caused me to Wonder, what TIME of the day did the Governor was informed. And why wait until the night to tell the Nation.?
It look like the jumbie them put Rankin to sleep so he can’t do nothing. We in trouble round and round
This is the first time in all my years I ever heard it first from a Governor, when the date is called. I always heard from past Chief Ministers/Premier’s will Tell “We The People first”.

Another Snap Election just like what happened in the Past
The Other Parties are not ready. The time is too short for other Parties to be prepare.
We are not voting for anybody until they get the Roads fixed, all the derelict: Vehicles, Boats, Containers, Trucks and Machineries, clean up from this Territory.
The whole place looks like a garbage heap. Everywhere you go is garbage and derelict items. Side Walks and Road Side have become parking lots and garages. To add to the distress, everywhere you go especially in the Road Town and Purcell area the place smell stink with sewerage and water running here and there.
Furthermore, the Sixth (6) District has been neglected since the 2017 Flood and Hurricanes and it looks like we do not have a representative anymore.

Can we get a new party with fresh faces to run?
The old, tired faces with no vision past their bank accounts have to go!
Send all of them home. We need new blood. We should elect anybody who’ve served before. But Lord help us who running? Just don’t elect the former Director of Wate & Sewerage. We want to move forward not backwards
