Lobster Fest serves up 10 years of crustacean goodness

The 10th-anniversary edition of the Anegada Lobster Festival (ALF) served up a splendid and fascinating demonstration of what the most gastronomic celebration this side of the Caribbean should be and truly lived up to its billing as one of the signature events hosted by the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB).

The Tourist Board spared no effort as it welcomed patrons to the crustacean-themed affair, offering colourful and attractive tokens and keepsakes as well as warm-up shots to get patrons going.

Promoted as a ‘Decade of Decadent Celebration’, this year’s ALF kicked off with the very popular lobster crawl where patrons were able to visit some of their favourite watering holes and seize the opportunity to get a head start on some very well-prepared lobster dishes as well.

The event, which was first held in 2013, attracted patrons from far and wide as they indulged in all manner of culinary thrills over three days at 10 participating restaurants.

Along the way to the restaurants, visitors were able to take in various sites and attractions such as the island’s famous flamingoes as well as the brilliantly-designed Anegada sign.

There were also fantastic beaches and fun-filled activities in between such as horseback riding, conch shell mound tours and visits to the Faulkner House Museum that patrons were encouraged to participate in, among other things.

While the restaurants featured several live bands and even livelier deejays which kept the crowds dancing away, there were also several side attractions such as a foam sprayer which kept both the young and the young at heart amused.

    @ SDA
You don’t have to eat them. What makes you think that you are right. Everyone has an inherit right to choose. The SDA cannot take that right away with Religion. So its your right to choose not to eat lobsters, and its our right to choose to eat them if thats what we want. So keep your Religion for You.

Why you think we leading in Hypertension etc. and all those illnesses killing NHI. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT that’s why they have a roach mentality lol.

  8. Yawn says:

Because all we eat is fried chicken and carbohydrate by the bucketload.

  9. @SDA says:

That’s Old Testament. In Mark ch. 6, Jesus himself declared that it’s not what you eat that makes you unclean, so He declared all foods good. Petty religiosity is not what God wants.

Why did Tourist Board spend a fortune persuading BVI residents to go to Anegada? BVITB money should be spent getting foreigners to come and spend money here. What a waste – the BVITB needs a shake up and less marketing money?
