Major expansion proposed for Nanny Cay marina

Nanny Cay Resort & Marina is planning a significant expansion of its marina.

General Manager Miles Sutherland Pilch announced this proposal during a community meeting at the Valerie O. Thomas Community Centre in Sea Cow’s Bay on Thursday.

The meeting aimed to gain public feedback before submitting the proposals to the Town & Country Planning Department.

The marina expansion aims to enlarge and widen the marina to accommodate larger vessels, which is expected to increase traffic and business in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Pilch said the vision behind this expansion is to make Nanny Cay the ‘best and most complete marine facility in the world’.

During the meeting, other development projects, including Johnny’s Maritime Services, Hanna Bay Property, and Jash Investment developments, were discussed.

No specific timelines for these developments were provided during the meeting, and organisers indicated the possibility of hosting another meeting to further discuss the matter.

The BVI’s maritime industry would be a fraction of what it is, had it not been for Nanny Cay. It’s amazing it has continued to survive with the Government continually trying to sabotage it.

How about make them build pump out facilities so all their boats aren’t flushing into the waters.
Granted, BVI sewer system pumps enough untreated crap but let’s make this generator of waste (for profit) pony up some $$$ for proper facilities.

  Nanny Cay has a pumpout facility and an (underutilized) waste treatment system on property, as they have for years, and explained last night. But, while we are on the subject, how about the giant plume of untreated sewage which is released every day off of Slaney from the public sewage system DIRECTLY UPSTREAM of nanny cay?
