Man charged for Jerry Castro’s murder, community lauded
The Royal Virgin Islands Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for the fatal August 10 shooting of Jerry Castro.
Charged with murder is Johnson’s Ghut resident, Sean Martin.
Police said they were able to make the arrest because of ‘cooperation from the community’.
“I want to pay tribute to the small team of local detectives who made an extraordinary effort to track down this killer they have done an excellent job. I also, am grateful to those in the community who have assisted my officers – perhaps a recognition that such extreme violence will not be tolerated in the territory,” said Police Commissioner Michael Matthews who also extended condolences to the homicide victim’s family.
Twenty-five-year-old Castro was gunned down outside OneMart supermarket’s warehouse in Purcell Estate.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Castro is the fourth murder victim in the territory since the start of the year.
The other three victims are Michael Stevens, Clevaughn Sweeney, and Trumayne Daway.
They were all killed in shooting incidents.

There are signs that 50% of major crime are done by high profile institutions affiliates. Bankers, high court officers, government, and generally the well off.
Am afraid United Kingdom will surely notice this trend. Is there more to this?
National Bank now have an Opening
I hope he rots in prison.
I HOPE YAH MAMA ROT IN P—— ????
Dawg is right.
good job!
Thank you to the community for stepping up.
So happy to hear this. We must take these communities back by speaking up when we know who did these things. Cold and heartless.
If his arrest was in fact the result of people coming forward with information, then I applaud them. Now I wish those with information about the many unsolved murders, will come forward and help bring justice to all the victims and their families
Apparently not enough.
These are careless comments Michael Matthew…you cannot call him or anyone a killer unless they are convicted of the crime or you have seen them kill with your own 2 eyes and can prove it. This is bad publicity in such a small island. Think of the jury pool. SMH
By arresting hin and charging him the Police and Prosecution Service are saying he is a killer. It is up to the courts to determine if they are right or not.
I hope if he is found not guilty ayo will come back an apologize as fast as you bash his name
A not guilty verdict in some cases does not mean you’re not quilty but sometimes there is simply not enough evidence soooo????
Exactly. Cuz they all full of s**t.
You people have no idea what you’re talking about and you’re ruining a good man’s reputation and life. Not to mention the lives of his two kids now that their dads been branded a murderer. If you’re so concerned with the community being satisfied with your ability to find justice for this man DO YOUR F—ING JOB and find who’s ACTUALLY responsible
I hope they do since they so convince it’s him… people stupid bad inno! They act like social media never talked s**t before…. this is what it is made for…. they get one story and just go based off what they read! Justice for Sean yo hear me!
