Man denied bail after making off with jeep from repair shop

A Lower Estate man has been hauled before the Magistrate’s Court for taking a vehicle after it was brought to his family member’s vehicle repair shop for service.

Shaun ‘Kimbo’ King pleaded guilty to taking a conveyance without authority when he appeared before Magistrate Shawn Innocent last week.

The court was told that the incident occurred on September 11 when a customer brought his vehicle to King’s father who is an air condition repairman.

It is reported that the vehicle went missing and, after several inquiries about his missing jeep, a complaint was made to the Road Town Police Station.

When police launched their investigations, it led them to King who told them he took the vehicle to allow a friend to use it.

The vehicle, the court heard, is currently at an unknown location in East End.

King was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence.

He was denied bail because the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions argued that investigations are still ongoing.

The matter was adjourned to November 13.
