Man with gun rap as student now faces attempted murder charge

Brandon Benjamin, a Belle Vue resident who police said they found in possession of a firearm while still a high school student in 2023, has now been charged in a separate incident for attempted murder.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) February 12 arrest blotter, Benjamin was not only charged with attempted murder, but also with possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offense and unlawful possession of explosives.

These charges stem from an incident in November 2024, when police received reports of a gunman on a motor scooter opening fire on two males in the Threllfall area.

Benjamin’s latest arrest marks the second reported attempted murder case for 2025, following the recent arrest of 22-year-old Shemoi Carey of Huntums Ghut.

Carey, also known as “Fat Cat”, had been evading authorities since November 2024 when police linked him to the November 8 attempted murder of K’zhari Stoutt in Long Bush. He has since been charged with attempted murder, carrying an unlicensed firearm, and unlawful possession of explosives.

However, his alleged accomplice, 18-year-old K’Shawn Martin of Sand Box Road, remains at large.

The RVIPF recently reported a 12 percent rise in crime across the Territory, with Detective Inspector Chief Kenrick Davis voicing concerns over the increase in gun violence.

Yeah yeah, the court will give him a lil slap on the wrist and he will be able to carry on. That’s why the criminals have no respect for the law.

  4. WE NEED PHOTOS says:

Since you playing gangster and own a deadly weapon , you should be charged as an adult, / otherwise you giving the youths the feeling thats its ok to own a gun , and we already know that they ain’t afraid to flex off themselves on anybody , day or night and the types of guns that these youths have in their collection is superior to those of the police /the youth that the police arrested on VG for possession of a firearm ,that ain’t no toy gun , the parents will still put their heads on the block in defence of their holy kids / if this be is allowed to escalate , then , when they kill a member of somebody’s family . We can only expect to have street justice coming into effect ,because the so called justice system is not in effect or ” dead ” or not in existence , the other problem is innocent. People can get caught in the crossfire , while judge wiggie and jokers like him , only know how to shout out the colonialist this – the governor that , free the drew – free the weed and a whole set racial narratives , but leaving out ehat is really going on with the youths and how they are slowly destroying the country

  6. Free the weed for real stop it says:

We need to change the weed culture for real where do you think those youth get their fire arms? I dont know but I dont think they skip from a book to a gun. It starts with the alcohol, then weed and making police out to be an enemy because they hunt young adults for a dime bag.

Then its a easy jump to disrespect for the joke the law became and another easy jump to hard crime & drugs if the weed man sells other items. Plus the youth are steady drinking and making bad decisions. Legalization is health. Less drinkers and less temptations to commit crime. What we are doing is not working it is getting worse.
