McMaster cruises to victory with semi-final win at Olympics

Local sprint hurdler Kyron McMaster has booked his place in the Olympic final of the men’s 400 metre hurdles event scheduled for later this week.

McMaster qualified after finishing first in his semi-final in Paris, France, on Wednesday.

He won his semi-final in a time of 48.15 seconds, ahead of Rasmus Mägi of Estonia, who finished second, and Qatar’s Abderrahman Samba.

McMaster will now vie for a podium finish in the finals on Friday at 3:45 pm BVI time. He will compete against world record holder Karsten Warholm, along with other top runners such as Rai Benjamin of the US and Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos.
