Minister urges caution after Hodges Creek work site accident
Works Minister Kye Rymer is urging motorists to exercise caution and practice safe driving following a vehicular accident near the roadworks site in Hodges Creek on Tuesday evening, February 18.
“Reports indicate that a vehicle traveling at high speed veered off the road, narrowly missing road workers who were preparing casting work,” the minister stated.
“This incident underscores the critical importance of safe driving, especially in areas where construction and maintenance activities are ongoing,” he emphasised.
While no lives were lost, reports confirm that at least one individual was injured and was subsequently rushed to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital. Further details on the incident are awaited.
The accident occurred shortly after the Ministry of Communications and Works announced a road closure in Paraquita Bay from Wednesday, February 19, to Monday, February 24.
The closure, affecting the stretch from H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) to Hodges Creek, was implemented to facilitate concrete works on a segment of the roadway.

the main road between town and east end is CLOSED!!
So the alternative road is now the twisty Ridge road for small vehicles but NOT trucks.
This is a main road on Tortola! Competent engineers would develop a better construction plan with a short bypass around each segment of the road construction.
