National Science and Innovation Fair Set for March 2025

Education Minister Sharie deCastro

Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports Affairs Sharie de Castro has announced that the annual National Science and Innovation Fair will take place from March 12-14, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Complex.

“Our brilliant students from across the territory are gearing up to showcase their creativity,” de Castro said, highlighting the event’s focus on innovation and problem-solving.

The fair will feature interactive displays and hands-on experiments, allowing students to tackle real-world challenges in real time.

Last year’s event, themed “Envision the Solution: Reimagining Sustainable Development through S.T.E.A.M,” saw 199 projects from students territory-wide, reflecting the growing emphasis on S.T.E.A.M. education in the Virgin Islands.

In 2023, the Ministry of Education adopted a S.T.E.A.M.-infused approach, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics into the curriculum. This interdisciplinary focus encourages creativity and critical thinking, equipping students to thrive in a technology-driven future.

Minister de Castro emphasised the importance of the initiative, stating that it empowers students to better engineer their future through innovation and technology.

The upcoming fair aims to build on the success of previous years, inspiring the next generation of innovators in the Virgin Islands
