New executive body installed for Tortola Toastmasters
On June 18, 2019, the Tortola Toastmasters installed it’s 2019/2020 Executive Board Members.
At the last meeting of the Toastmasters’ Year Area Director Kisha Frett, ALB, CC conducted the installation ceremony.
The final meeting was themed with quotes from William Jennings Bryan, such as “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved”.
The 2019/2020 Executive Committee includes: President Ernald George, Vice President of Education Julia Leonard, Vice President of Membership Portia Stoutt (CC/CL), Vice President of Public Relations Sharona Pickering, Secretary Pearla Sylvester-Thomas, Treasurer Linda Magloire, Sergeant at Arms Weslene Walters, and Immediate Past President Dereck Alphonso (CC/ALB).
The outgoing President Dereck gave a warm and encouraging farewell remarks after pinning the Incoming President Ernald just before adjourning the meeting.
The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
The Toastmasters International motto is “Where Leaders are Made”.
Tortola Toastmasters is proud to be a part of District 81 which serves the Caribbean. Division E Director Helen Cristina-Romeo represents many territories in Division E such as Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Marten, St Martin, St Kitts & Nevis, Virgin Islands of the United States (USVI) and the Virgin Islands (BVI) The Tortola Toastmasters Club meets on the first, third, & fifth Tuesday of each month 6 pm in the Top Priority Security Conference Room, in Fish Bay.
