One-year project! Consultancy services now being sought for WE ferry terminal development

The permanent West End Ferry Terminal has moved one step closer to being materialised, as the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) has issued an invite for consultancy services for the design and construction management of the project.

The RDA also stated that the funds for the undertaking are now available through the Caribbean Development Bank’s $65 million for hurricane recovery.

“The main objective of this consulting assignment is to provide architectural, engineering and contract management services for the West End Ferry Terminal Project from its planning phase to the handover for operation by the end-users,” a joint statement from the RDA and the Premier’s Office said on Monday, July 6.

One-year development project

It said the consultant would be responsible for engaging stakeholders through all phases of the project, leading the planning and development phases, and producing preliminary and final designs required for construction of the project.

“The consulting assignment also includes assistance during the tendering and award of the construction works, and the construction supervision and contract management during implementation of the works. The duration of the assignment is expected to be for a period of 24 months,” it added.

The release indicated that consideration would be given to technical competence, qualifications and experience, local and regional experience on similar assignments, financial capability and existing commitments.

It further said key experts will not be evaluated at the short-listing stage.

Interested parties should submit their expressions of interest in English, to the RDA between 9 am to 4 pm during the week, no later than 4 pm on July 20.

The facility sustained damage during the 2017 weather events.

In August 2019, representative of the First District where West End is located, Premier Andrew Fahie said officials were expecting to break ground for the construction of a permanent port facility at West End by the start of the second quarter of 2020.

July marks the start of the third quarter for the financial year.

Good Question. Putting this out in this way just doesn’t make any sense.

Do you know there was a tender for the design and build of a new building in the Palm Grove area. To date no notification of the tenders were received from, the amounts or if a contract was awarded.

What is the point of these things??
