Organisers make public appeal to help fund VG Easter Fest
The Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Sub-Committee is calling on the community to assist in raising funds for the upcoming event, set to take place from April 19 to April 21.
Speaking on JTV recently, Chairperson Reshawn Stevens explained that funding for this year’s festival differs from previous years.
“Last year we were allotted $100,000 and then with that the committee also raised about $90,000 in sponsorship,” Stevens stated. “This year we were allotted $250,000 but this year we are challenged with consuming the entire cost of our staging, the venue and all of that.”
He also highlighted additional financial challenges, including rising travel and accommodation costs.
“We also have to keep in mind the cost of travel right now given the amount of days we have and how tight it is with accommodations,” he added. “We also have to find places to put our artists.”
As a result, the committee has turned to the public for support.
“We want to appeal to the community to support us if there is something to offer so that we can reach our goal,” he said. “We are seeking any type of sponsorship or help to get this done.”
This year’s staging will feature Dominican bouyon artiste Asa Bantan at the Rise and Shine Tramp event which occurs on April 19. He also announced that other artistes will be announced during the upcoming week. He added that the j’ouvert did not possess the bouyon twist previously and described it as something new.
The committee announced that the festival would return to the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour this year.
“Thankfully they are one of our main sponsors and they do tend to keep this tradition going as they recognise it’s such a great support for the community,” the chairperson mentioned.

The problem with these events is that the committees start too late to start organizing. Start planning as soon as the event finish in one year. Take a month break and start again. You don’t have to meet every week. Meet one day every other week and set your plans in motion. Get your committees set up and give them their tasks etc. Then 5 to 6 months meet more often to iron out problems etc.
you all gets nothing!!! Change the dates from during the holy celebrations first!!!!
These are the same f**kers that cry about hospitals, schools etc. but will spend half a million dollars on DUMB F**K!
Ask Steve. He got $220,000 that he doesn’t need that Natailio gave him. If we believe the success that the VK concert was he won’t have used the money and it could now be used for public good on the VG parade.
Also touch up the Tourist board. If they thought SP should get 50K for the VK concert you should easily get a 100K or more from there.
I think you only have to ask. Worked for Steve, why not for VG Parade. Maybe you have to hand a little cash back to P487. I am not sure how that works but it may be the only way of getting your hands on the $.
was just going tell me ask yolo for a sponsor
to have the VG Easter Festival on a Christian feast day. Suggest the annual VG Festival be held the first weekend after the vernal equinox. This change would allow this annual festival to always occur at the time of the year and not moving around the calendar with Easter.
When $250K was spent on a private concert?????????????????????????? But public must help fund Easter Festival????????????????? Just wow!
It is also sacrilegious not to try to put humpty dumpty back together again. Some people will never get out of Babylon made up Matrix and all the tricks and traps to keep them mentally enslaved. Its always so amusing to see them with this holier than thou vibe when you know that they are just a clown totally brainwashed and bamboozled.
Is VG Easter festival part of tourism, part of BVIGovt. Where is Vincent’s voice Dirky Voice? VG just will never be a part I honestly the BVI only for our money from our tourism product
NOT ONE F….NG RED CENT I WILL DONATE TO THIS.ASK STEVE, TAZ, AND MC. Mili FOR DONATIONS. THEY JUST WALK AWAY WITH A QUARTER OF A MILLON DOLLARS OF MY TAX MONEY TO SPONSOR A CRIMINAL TO COME HERE TO PERFORM A GHETTO CENTRAL CONCERT AND A BLACK ON BLACK GHETTO HOOD RAT PARTY.
Government has been slowly abolishing VG Easter Festival,
East End and Carrot Bay Festival. It’s been strategically giving those committees less to no monies over the years while putting financing and marketing towards Road Town.
If you end up bleeding, you are as good as DEAD in Virgin Gorda, or so-called Tourism Mecca! No proper medical facilities after decades of promises. We are in 2025 and still any serious injury requires a bumpy long boat ride to Trellis Bay then a bumpier ride over the hills to the Hospital on Tortola. Yet these people have no qualms about seeking hundreds of thousands to drink more rum and partake in bullshit. Then we blame the politicians? Cancel the devil fest and put the money towards the issues plaguing the mini-hospital in VG. You guys continue to blame the politicians while the voters are on play time all the f**king time!
Take the begging sob story to YOLO and the rest of his squad for donations. You all really think people is that stupid and henpecked or rooster pecked? The funds I work for is to feed and keep a roof over my family head. Go to YOLO and his squad and beg them for donations.
Why are you calling on the community to assist in raising funds for your F up. This is the first and last time I am going to say this. You all really believe we are some Cracker Jack dummies in this place. Is a Rise and Shine Tramp needed/ that Important?
Bouyon twist???? Get the $@#! out of here with that bullshit.
Another investigation is necessary.
Didn’t she say it’s a local festival so only real locals should have a say? So do it all by yourself. I’ll stay home.
You all allow outsiders to stick their hands all up in our local festival. They are not going to allow us locals to stick our hands in theirs.
