Over 20 COVID deaths since new year! Toll now at 62 persons

Despite case numbers continuing to decline steadily over the last few weeks, the BVI’s COVID-related death toll has now climbed to 62 persons.

In the January 6th release of the territory’s epidemiological summary, the BVI recorded 40 deaths and 958 COVID-19 positive cases. Since then, there have been more than 20 deaths recorded as being COVID-19 related.

In the latest epidemiological summary released by the Health Ministry on February 15, six persons are recorded as being hospitalised.

Positive COVID-19 cases on Tortola currently stand at 63 persons while there are some 13 cases on Virgin Gorda and a further five cases on Jost van Dyke.

I was wondering when somebody was going to to wake up to the fact of the number of COVID-related deaths in a relatively short space of time. A set of very reckless selfish people out here doing and saying their mess all this time people in mourning for their loved ones. We will pay dearly for a lack of care and love for one another. Lord have mercy on us all.

Assuming that most, if not all, this was predicted very clearly. When something is predicted clearly, and then happens, generally people take note, but not this time. So sad.

Numbers must decrease if we are no longer testing! Seriously, common sense people!

    • Secret Bear says:

Why would we test if we aren’t sick? Did you test yourself for flu every year before this even if you felt fine? The flu has killed more people than Covid! Stop the insanity!

When did the flu ever cause more deaths than COVID in the VI or the USVI.

We put loads of people in debt, ruined business and people’s lives for 18 months to protect the same people who didn’t want to be protect themselves and our death toll is still going to be the same. We should have just done like STT and stayed open. The BVI Government destroyed people’s lives for 2 years for nothing.
