Pedestrian recuperating well

The 63 year-old woman who was injured in an accident in the vicinity of Flow store in Road Town yesterday (June 26) is recuperating well.

Sources said she has been released from Peebles Hospital, where she was treated for an injury to the head as well as one of the hands.

The pedestrian, Althea Shortt, is a resident of Tredfalls Estate.

She was travelling with her husband in the vicinity of the Flow store at the time she was struck by a red pickup truck.

Reports are that she was making her way across the pedestrian crossing at the time of the incident.

The woman struggled to maintain her balance, but eventually fell a few feet from where she was hit.

Shortt was taken to Peebles Hospital.

Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force went to the scene of the accident yesterday, and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
