PHOTO OF THE DAY: ‘Festival dump’

This BVI News photograph of the festival grounds in Road Town was captured this week.

The grounds, which was used as a ‘staging area’ to offload containers of relief supplies after the hurricanes, is seemingly now being used as a dump for utility poles and electrical cables that were damaged during the September 2017 disasters.

Mountains of the damaged infrastructure were observed at an isolated section of the festival grounds.

Another section of the area is seemingly being used to train learner motorists.

What I am concerned about is the smoke that is an injustice to the people of the western end of the island. This is a “deadly” concern. What will the government do in the next 5, 10 or so years when people is this area take on more serious heath conditions as a result of their actions here today. We should not have to pay for any bloody NHI. THIS SMOKE SITUATION IS PLAIN WRONG !!!

Lets form another NDP task force committee to look after “The importance of First Impressions” when visiting an Island….hmmm can’t think where they’d begin to improve things….derelict cars, roads drenched in sewage, polluted beaches, rubbish strewn everywhere, blocked drains/ghuts, wrecked schools, smelly streets, neglected abandoned buildings….And then spend a year drafting a paper with recommendations drawing lots of money and do absolutely F,,,k all with zero improvement – welcome to Tortola folks…

Just a few short months ago they were threatening persons to remove vehicles etc. from the site as it was making the central-city located site an “eye sore” but yet here we have them using the same location as a dumpsite for the Corporations rubble….mmm…nice one!
