PHOTOS: East End beach J’Ouvert gets wet and wild

Scores of revellers gathered on the eastern end of Tortola on Wednesday for the East End J’ouvert, a vibrant celebration held as part of the territory’s 70th anniversary emancipation festivities.

The crowd danced to the infectious sounds of soca played by local band VIBE and St. Croix’s Pumpa, as they paraded from Long Swamp to Long Bay Beach on Beef Island. As revellers crossed the Beef Island bridge, some took the opportunity to make a dive into the waters below.
